How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch? – LGBTQ Heroes In My Fanfics (FEEDBACK REQUESTED. IF OFFENDED, PLEASE DO NOT READ)

So, this time I’m dropping all pretence and basically being honest here: As you know, I’ve done a number of DC fanfics under the same alternate universe setting…which I still haven’t named. Speaking of which…

…Anyway, I’ve been planning on having as diverse a cast as I can for my fanfics. This is actually easier than you might think, because, while they don’t all get as much attention as they should, DC superheroes/superheroines do come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, colours, ethnicities, and characteristics. They have African-Americans, Brazilians, Asians, Russians…I think only a couple of Canadians, but hey, we got Captain Canuck and frakking Wolverine elsewhere, so not a big deal. They have handicapped people, like Vengeance Moth and Proxy (who I hope comes back with Steph next year). They have bisexuals, they have homosexuals. Heck, one of them is in one of my fanfics, that being Batwoman in Birds of Prey: Dark. But there are some types of superheroes they don’t have, at least not to my knowledge: Transsexuals, hermaphrodites, transvestites, or having had surgery (or I suppose magic, since hey, it’s comic books) to change their sex. Now, there IS a transgendered character, that being Alysia Yeoh (Batgirl‘s room-mate), which IS awesome, but unless she’s gonna get in a costume and fight crime (which I would not be against, Gail Simone, just in case yer wondering), there are no transgendered heroes or heroines in DC Comics.

So that’s when I started thinking: My fanfics exist in an alternate reality of my own creation. Meaning, I could either make a whole new character that is one or more of the above, OR I could change a pre-existing character to be LGBTQICTA-whatever-the-hell-else-there-is-that-I-would-count-but-there’s-too-damned-many-of-them. The only question is, if I went with the latter, who? Well, I DO have a few options that I thought of. Dick Grayson would be an awesome possibility. And NO, I don’t mean making Batman and Robin the Ambiguously Gay Duo, I JUST mean Robin. Raven would also be a good choice, and would actually explain a bit since she’s one of the seven children of Trigon that represent the Seven Deadly Sins called the SONS of Trigon.

What do you guys think? Lemme know in the comments below whether you think I should do this or not, whether I should do so with a pre-existing character, and if yes to both, who you think that should be. Ja né!

What Should I Call My DC Fanfic Universe? (FEEDBACK REQUESTED)

So, as one can tell, I’ve written a number of DC Comics-related stories on FanFiction.net, all existing in the same alternate universe (AU) I’ve been crafting. They are as follows thus far (and you can click on the images to view them)…

“As Bruce Wayne contemplates if his father would be proud of the decisions he’s making, he learns that, for one night, Thomas Wayne was The Batman. But why, and how did Bruce never learn of this until now? Only one man can tell him the truth.”

“Superman must contend with a threat that is clearly out to get him, creating a liquidized Kryptonite meant to kill him. Can he learn who is responsible and stop them? Meanwhile, a young man who idolizes The Last Son of Krypton finds himself thrown into the mix and pays a terrible price. Is he a victim, or a hero?”

“Only four women can protect Platinum Flats from mobsters, supervillains, secret organizations, and paranormal/supernatural threats. They are Black Canary, Huntress, Batwoman, and Raven: the Birds of Prey!”

There’s also a one-shot quickly approaching release, even though I’ve been saying that for like a month now, called Will & Hope. It’ll focus on John Stewart, who is the only Green Lantern on Earth, Wally West, the new Flash who is armed with the blue light of hope, and Bleez, a Red Lantern coming to try to kill them both. Finally, after all that, I plan to eventually do a Justice League fanfic, which will involve heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Cyborg, and Martian Manhunter, as well as a classic JLA villain as the main antagonist.

Justice League of America

So, as you can see, I’ve created quite the little universe out of these tales, and I haven’t finished yet. However, this has brought a dilemma to my attention: What do I call it? I mean, if it’s all gonna be part of the same AU, shouldn’t I give that universe a name or title of some sort? That way, when you see the title of the story, you know it’s part of this same storyline?

One idea I had was to call it Earth 52. The reasoning behind it was that, if my understanding of the current DC Multiverse is correct, there are only supposed to be 52 realities in the comics: Prime Earth (as of the New 52) being the central reality, and Earths 1 – 51 being showcased in other works, such as the Earth 2 series, the Earth One stories for Batman and Superman, and Earth 3 playing a huge role in Forever Evil. Hence, Earth 52 is the reality that doesn’t exist in the comics, and is therefore something I can use for myself.

Another idea I had for a name was Infinite DC. Basically, it takes its name both from Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, and Ultimate Marvel. Also, it exists as a reality that is, in many respects, influenced by the events of an infinite number of other realities, what with it being a fanfiction inspired by the comics, the tv shows, the movies, and so on. Thus, in that sense, it’s a clustering of all the various interpretations of the stories, which can further motivate and inspire events within it, kinda like Hypertime when it was still around.

What do you guys think? Vote below which of the two I came up with sounds better, and/or add your own suggestion in the comments section below. And hey, feel free to let me know what you think of my fanfics, be it good, bad, or indifferent. Ja né!

New Upcoming Fanfiction – Birds of Prey: Dark (WARNING – SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION AHEAD)

So, I’ve once again decided to do a fanfiction based on an idea I posted in How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch. This one, however, will be a bit longer with no real planned ending, much like a comic book series. So, with that in mind, my next fanfiction will be…

Birds of Prey: Dark

Yep, instead of a story about one of DC’s leading ladies, I’ve decided to do a story that involves just about ALL of them. While it’ll focus primarily on a team of four of them, you’ll see a LOT of them cameo and rotate in and out as the plot requires them. Speaking of which, the plot will centre around a mixture of Birds of Prey, Justice League Dark, and Raven from Teen Titans. I decided to set the story in Platinum Flats instead of Gotham City, even though three of the four main characters are most commonly seen in Gotham, since it was home to the Birds for a time before the New 52, and I wanted them kept separate from Batman’s operations so they can tell their own story. For now, though, let’s take a look at the four main members of the Birds of Prey: Dark…

Dinah Laurel Lance, AKA Black Canary

Daughter of the original Black Canary, Dinah Lance is an asskicker the likes of which even Batman wouldn’t want to square off against. With her impressive martial arts skills and steel shattering Canary Cry, she protects Platinum Flats from criminals, only to find one day during a routine chase with some criminals that she may have found herself in a situation where she needs a little help. Oh, and before you ask, NO, I am not planning to involve Green Arrow, at least not in person.

Helena Bertinelli, AKA The Huntress

An expert marksman trying to suppress the desire for vengeance against the Mafia, the Huntress has often been seen as a close friend/occasional rival to Black Canary. As such, when Dinah runs into more trouble than she can handle alone, Helena is more than happy to jump in and help with a friendly jab or two ready. Also, while I said before that I’d make her a mixture of the two Huntresses, her and Helena Wayne, I’ve kinda heard the argument against that, and I get that it’s not a good idea. If I’m gonna be writing Helena Bertinelli, she has to be Helena Bertinelli.

Katherine Kane, AKA Batwoman

A former army brat and heiress to one of the wealthiest families in Gotham City, Batwoman was inspired by Batman to become a super-heroine. I decided to have DC’s première lesbian super-heroine move from Gotham to set up shop on the west coast, which ultimately leads to her running into Black Canary and Co. and funding the team. Otherwise, she’s also investigating the ties between various mob bosses and criminals, uncovering conspiracies, and seeking the members of the Secret Society. So, she’s kinda pulling double duty, doing The Question’s job, minus the insane amounts of paranoia. lol

Rachel Roth, AKA Raven

The daughter of a demon from another dimension, Raven escaped to Earth to get away from her dark, oppressive father, Trigon the Terrible. As a result, Trigon sent her brothers to bring her back and kill anyone that get in their way, intentional or otherwise, thus setting the stage for the first arc of the story. Personality wise, she’d act like she does in the comics, but also with some traces of her dry sarcasm from the Teen Titans animated series, just for fun.

Trigon the Terrible

As I said, the team will be a mixture of Birds of Prey and Justice League Dark, hence the name of the fic, ‘Birds of Prey: Dark’. Basically, they’re a group of superheroines battling mobsters, secret organizations, and the more dangerous paranormal/supernatural foes in the DC Universe. Recurring villains will include Trigon and his sons, as Raven will be a full-time member, but expect plenty other well-known demonic, mystical, or extra-terrestrial bad guys to appear.

As for other heroines involved, like I said, expect plenty to make appearances. Obviously, since it’s the Birds of Prey, I gotta have Barbara Gordon show up at some point, and I guess Lady Blackhawk would have to be a must at some point too. Hawk and Dove would probably be neat, and I KNOW Zatanna and Madame Xanadu would be awesome to get involved. So yeah, plenty to work with. As for the male heroes of the DC Universe, while I intend to keep the team’s path separate from Batman, hence the move to the west coast, expect him to cameo or at least be referenced to. And again, I don’t plan to have Green Arrow show up, but I suppose Black Canary talking about him from time to time is alright.

What do you guys think? Are you cool with this plot? Who would you like to see show up? Vote below, or leave a comment saying who you would like to see show up, and with any luck, Birds of Prey: Dark will be coming sooner than later. Ja né!

How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch? – Everyone’s Rogues Gallery

Yep, that time again, where I told about How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch. This time, we’re talking villains again, but I’m doing something a little different. Basically, I’m gonna be showing who belongs in whose’s roster of villains. Now, I know that these are all pre-established villains that have been paired with superheroes before, but this would basically be me trying to shake things up and keep things fresh. So, by pairing different heroes and villains, or by bringing back older villains that were forgotten in time for one more go, it keeps things new while also experienced. On top that, I’ve found that some heroes have far too many iconic villains to try to count, *COUGH!*Batman*COUGH!*, while some heroes don’t have enough. Also, this doesn’t mean that someone on Batman’s roster would never fight Wonder Woman or anything like that, it’s just who they would generally go up against.

Superman’s Enemies

Superman’s powers make him not only arguably the world’s greatest superhero, but also one of the more adaptive. Naturally, his villains need to either be able to match his strength, be unique enough in their abilities, can combat him on an intellectual level, or have access to one of his weaknesses.
Examples: Atomic Skull, Brainiac, Doomsday, Dyna-Mind, General ZodLex LuthorMagpieMetallo, ParasiteSolomon Grundy

Batman’s Villains

Batman is the World’s Greatest Detective, has peak physical conditioning, and near endless gadgetry. Naturally, his opponents have to be the type that challenge him from an intellectual angle, or can take advantage of the simple fact that, for all those advantages, he’s still a human with no super-powers. Also, given his own issues with vengeance vs justice, his foes might likely have similar problems.
Examples: Bane, Clayface, The Joker, Killer Croc, The Mad Hatter, Mr. Freeze, The Scarecrow, Ra’s al Ghul, The Riddler, Two-Face, Victor Zsasz

Wonder Woman’s Villains

Wonder Woman’s mission as an ambassador of her people can be considered as trying to show the world of man it can be a world of compassion, equality, and peace. So, it only makes sense that her enemies would be the types of individuals that are in direct contrast to that vision: Villains that seek to oppress, create chaos, or outright destroy. Also, Wonder Woman is no stranger to magical or Godly villains, so they would fit in as well.
Examples: Ares, Captain Nazi, Cheetah, Circe, Giganta, Gorilla Grodd, Poison Ivy, Trickster (New 52 Apokolips version), Veronica Cale

Cyborg’s Villains

Cyborg’s advanced tech, enhanced strength, and history with the Titans makes his choices relatively simple: The bulkier opponents of the Titans in the past, villains that can circumvent his circuitry, or other technologically advanced individuals.
Examples: Amazo, Cinderblock, Deathstroke, KGBeast, Overload, Plasmus, Prometheus, T.O. Marrow

The Flash’s Villains

As I mentioned before, I would make Wally West the Blue Lantern Flash, so his opponents would occasionally be evil Lanterns out to snuff out the Blue Light of Hope. Still, that doesn’t mean his classic enemies, The Rogues, can’t pop in from time to time. 🙂
Examples: Bleez, Captain Boomerang, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, Magenta, Mirror Master, Reverse Flash, Pied Piper, The Top

Green Lantern’s Villains

Naturally, Green Lantern would face other Lanterns, like the Sinestro Corps, or the Red Lantern Corps, but what about some of the classic GL foes from before the various Lantern Corps started going at it? Don’t really see many of those much anymore, huh? I think I’d wanna bring some of ’em back, but with modern takes on them to make ’em more threatening.
Examples: Atrocitus, Hector Hammond, Javelin, Krona, Larfleeze, Major Force, Puppeteer, Sinestro, Weather Wizard

Justice League’s Villains

Since the Justice League of America is made up of the greatest heroes in the world, the villains to oppose them have to either be galactic threats, foes that a single hero would need aid in defeating, or teams of villains that require an equal and opposite team of heroes to beat.
Examples: Black Hand, The Crime Syndicate, Darkseid, The Legion of Doom, Neron, Paragon, Starro the Conqueror, The White Martians

Batgirl’s Villains

As a heroine inspired by Batman and occasionally trying to earn his trust, it’s only fitting that Batgirl’s foes would be villains inspired by other villains, or just some of the villains he doesn’t always have time for. Plus, y’know, some of his female rogues, since…Okay, I know I wrote Batman kicking the new Copperhead in the face, but I wasn’t exactly all that comfortable doing it, know what I mean?
Examples: Calculator, Condiment King, Harley Quinn, Matilda, Roxy Rocket, Twiddledum and Twiddledee, The Ventriloquist (New 52 version), The White Rabbit

Teen Titans‘ Villains

Like I noted before, the Teen Titans would be going back to their roots as a response team to distress calls from teenagers, so a lot of their villains would be the types that try to corrupt the youths of the world. Also, plenty of their enemies would be enemies based out of Jump City, or foes that even the Justice League need the extra help taking on.
Examples: Billy Numerous, Doctor Light, The Fearsome Five, Goth, Harvest, The H.I.V.E., Johnny Rancid, Mister Twister, Terra

Batwoman’s Villains

Batwoman operates out of Gotham City, and is usually (in my canon, anyway) investigating the ties between secret organizations and trying to bring down mob bosses. As such, her enemies are mostly mobsters, criminal syndicates, and hired guns, usually from around Gotham.
Examples: Alice, Black Mask, Deadshot, Firefly, The Great White Shark, Intergang, The Penguin, The Religion of Crime, Rupert Thorne. The Secret Society

…Okay, I think my tags are getting a bit insanely high, so I’m gonna hafta stop there. lol Lemme know what you think, if there’s anyone I should switch around, and I’ll see ya next time! Ja né!

How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch? – Teen Titans (Robin, Wonder Girl, Bunker, And More)

Well, welcome back to my own personal Put Up Or Shut Up moment for comics, How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch. Granted, I may not be the best person to make such judgements, since apparently DC Comics is meant for 45 year olds, but this is just my own personal take on it. This time around, I thought I’d take a closer look at the members of one of my favourite superhero teams of all time, who I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up writing a fic about in the future…

Now, because a lot of these are known primarily for being Teen Titans, and/or for being sidekicks to other superheroes, not all of ’em have logos, so I’ll be using pictures. With that said, let’s start with who is usually considered the leader…

Robin

As I mentioned before, I’d naturally start with Dick Grayson as Robin. However, following his eventual transformation to Nightwing, I’d probably do as the Young Justice cartoon apparently did and skip over Jason Todd in favour of probably my favourite Robin of all time, Tim Drake. Now, that’s not to say that I would never involve Jason Todd, just not as Robin. Why? Well, for starters, I’m not exactly a huge fan of Jason Todd and what DC continues to try to do with him. Second, like I said, I prefer Tim Drake as Robin (and yes, he WAS Robin, I don’t care what anyone says. I don’t even mind calling him Red Robin, I just hate that DC insists he was never Robin). Now, would I put the mantle on others like Stephanie Brown and Damian Wayne later on? I dunno yet. Either way, though, Dick would be the leader of the team, though would often-times confer to this next individual…

Cyborg

I already covered most of what I’d do with Cyborg, but at the same time, I think I’d want him to act as a sort of mentor to the Titans. He’d be in charge of training them, putting together their base and equipment, etc. He might occasionally butt heads with Robin over leadership decisions, but otherwise would be friends.

Wonder Girl

Yes, I know that’s Donna Troy. Sorry to Cassie fans, and I MIGHT eventually show her some love too, but frankly, I just prefer Donna. As for her origin (hoo boy, Donna Troy’s origin), I’d probably just go with the story where she’s a mirror duplicate of Wonder Woman as a teenager, though I’d put her in the black costume with the blue stars. It’s just my personal favourite look for her. Otherwise, her role would be something similar to what Superboy’s was in the Young Justice cartoon, though with a better relationship with her counterpart. Finally, I think I’d want her to have a silver lasso as opposed to Wonder Woman’s golden lasso.

Bunker

Y’know, much as I like to rag on Scott Lobdell from time to time, one thing I can thank him for is for intentionally making Bunker and his back-story completely angst free. And trust me, you have no idea how much I appreciate that, given the status quo of DC Superhero angst these days. So yeah, Miguel’s personality? Perfect. His powers? Pretty awesome. The only thing I’d change about him is his costume’s colour-scheme. I’d change it to violet and some other colour, like green or black. I just don’t like that sort of reddish-purple that goes down the middle of his mask and across the right side of his costume. Maybe it just bugs me because, in the comics, he’s on a team brought to you by the colours red, yellow, and brown, but it’s always bugged me.

Jesse Quick

Yeah, with enough characters in other colours, I can let Jesse Quick keep her normal red and yellow. 🙂 Also, as far as why I picked Jesse Quick over Bart Allen, it’s two-fold. One is that I already picked Wally West over Barry Allen to be The Flash, and two is that I’d want a more diverse team. After all, Jesse can not only tap into the Speed Force, but she also inherits her mother’s enhanced strength and stamina. As for her back-story, pretty much the same, minus the affair with her mother’s younger fiancée, because oh dear GOD that was stupid. Speaking of which, she’d also have the costume she wore in the earlier issues of The Titans, AKA Lewis Lovhaug‘s favourite comic book series ever. I just like it a lot, and find her other costumes to be kinda…eh.

Aqualad

No offence to Garth (in fact, far from it, I think I’d rather have Garth as Tempest), but Kaldur’ahm would be the Aqualad of this team, likely in his Young Justice TV show appearance (although I’d change the shade of red to a more orange tone) and power-set. However, to keep things from getting overly repetitive, I think I would kinda want him to be the sort-of Sixth Ranger member of the group (look it up on TV Tropes). Still, Kaldur would be the serious one, and would pretty much play designated driver to some of the antics the rest of the team might occasionally get up to.

Anyway, that’s it for the Teen Titans. Next time, I talk more about the villains, specifically who faces whom. Ja né!

How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch? – Storyline Adaptions

Aaaaaaaaannnnnd welcome back to another edition of ‘How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch?’, the ongoing series where I talk about what I’d do if I were in charge of a DC reboot, tv series, alternate reality series (Think Marvel’s Ultimate universe), and so on. And seeing as how I’ve taken a lot of these ideas and used them in my fanfics nowadays, you’d THINK I’d wanna keep these ideas to myself, but I like sharing them, seeing what people think, and getting feedback.

So, up until this point, I’ve been talking about the characters, but what about the stories? Like, if I was gonna do an adaptation of a story from the comics, like in one of the DC Animated Original Movies, or a novelization. And I’m not against the idea of possibly doing a novelization of certain stories for FanFiction.net, btw. So, let’s see what I’d do with some of my favourites, some of my less-than-favourites, and some that desperately need a rehash.

The Culling

Okay, I originally submitted this on the tumblr AT4W Secrets, but something went wrong with it, so I decided to post it here instead. Well, more or less what I originally said, anyway. And for the record, it’s not a good thing that, after watching Linkara’s review of The Culling that I can pick out over half a dozen things they could’ve done differently to make the story at least SLIGHTLY better…

  1. Make the suits they wear have some sort of device on them that Harvest can use to keep constant track of them, or that keeps them from leaving The Crucible without his permission, or something like that. In other words, MAKE THE SUITS MAKE SENSE.
  2. I don’t know if Harvest’s real back-story about trying to create an army to wipe out all meta-humans was created before or after The Culling, but if it was before, make it clear here. Stop trying to make it so that he seems sympathetic, because it doesn’t work. NO ONE sympathizes with Harvest. AT ALL. Plus, then it would make the presence of a group of heroes from the Legion of Superheroes make sense, as they would know who and what Harvest is and would be trying to stop him.
  3. Honestly, I think I would make Harvest FAR less of a spin-doctor. I mean, wouldn’t he actually seem a lot more credible if he admitted that the Titans and Legion Lost managed to get the better of him, and then swore to come back and take his vengeance for ruining his plans? It’d be horrifying to think that someone with as much power as he has would one day return, only royally pissed off and ready to kill them all.
  4. Make it so that the people who survive The Culling are MADE to join The Ravagers. Y’know, with brain control or something. Then make it so that Ridge got free of his near the end and left the group…Speaking of which…
  5. DO NOT CALL THE SPIN-OFF TEAM THE RAVAGERS! I’ve actually brought this up before, but if DC really wants that dark and edgy group of Teen Titans, then here’s an idea: Make THESE GUYS the dark and edgy Titans! You could even call them The Savage Titans or something like that. Plus, then you would have a place for Skitter, since she kinda disappeared in The Culling and hasn’t been seen since.
  6. I would not kill off Artemis in her one and only appearance. Involving her in this story actually created a great opportunity to sell the Teen Titans book to fans of the Young Justice series, as her coming along for the ride after The Culling was over would get fans of the character to want to read it…Plus, it would add some GREEN to the team…
  7. I’d change the ending a bit so that the three groups got to meet up for a moment before they all had to flee The Crucible. Basically, just so they can have a moment to say something like “Well, Harvest got away, but we shut down his operations and saved all these people, and that’s more important”, and they could all bid fond farewells to each other and have the series end on a more positive note. Plus, I’d probably take out the scene at the end where the Titans arrive on Mystery Island. Just saying, it kinda detracted, although I will admit it almost felt like an ending to an episode of Quantum Leap. lol
  8. I guess with his new origin, Beast Boy being red KINDA makes sense, but then you gotta wonder whether the new origin is better than the old. Really, I’m torn between making him green again, or just making him FUN again…Or both, whatever.

Not really as much to say here, since I’d wanna keep a lot of it the same. If I was doing a movie, I’d want it to be a two parter obviously, and I’d probably take out a lot of the filler and crossover stuff. Like, Red Hood and the Outlaws can go, since it didn’t add anything, and we can just see small shots of Batgirl, the Birds of Prey, and Robin taking their targets, as well as maybe shots of Red Robin and Batwoman fighting a Talon or two. Nightwing’s part in the story can be mostly reduced to his interactions with Batman, finding the book of names, learning he was supposed to be a Talon, taking on his great-grandfather, and the resolution of his character and where he stands. Not to say that the stuff involving him touring with Haly’s Circus wasn’t a good story, it was. It’s just that if I was focusing primarily on Night of the Owls, that part doesn’t need to be there.

JLA/Titans: The Technis Imperative

…Leave it as is. No, seriously, nothing needs changing with this story. Now, if I was gonna adjust anything, it’d be that, if this were a movie, the little red boxes that show everyone’s info when the probes scan everyone would be little pop-ups you could switch on and off on the DVD…In fact, why they hell doesn’t this have a movie already?! SOMEONE MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Anyway, I think that’s all for now. Next time, I think I’ll look at a few more of the heroes, including probably my favourite Robin of all. Ja né!

The Man of Tomorrow – My New Fanfic

So, having finished writing Tales of the Caped Crusader, I’ve decided to move onto my next fanfic, also inspired by my talks of How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch, as well as taking place in that same sort of ‘verse that I created with TotCC. The name of the fic: The Man of Tomorrow.

Here’s the basic premise: Superman has been an active superhero for some time now. Lois Lane is aware of his secret identity, and the two are currently in a relationship while also keeping up their friendly rivalry at the Daily PlanetLex Luthor is in jail following an incident that also cost him his presidency over the United States. As a result, Metropolis is enjoying relative peace time. I mean, there’s still stuff like burning buildings, bank robbers, jumpers, the occasional criminal, but over-all, FAR less occasions that look like a job for Superman. Also, as was the case in TotCC, he has met Batman and Wonder Woman, but there is no Justice League yet.

One day, down-town Metropolis is attacked by Plasmus, and after a fight between the two, Superman quickly learns that someone is gunning for him, someone that’s created a liquidized version of Kryptonite and gave some to Plasmus. Problem: The #1 suspect is behind bars, and can’t be responsible…or can he? Worse yet, a young man named Victor Stone gets horribly burnt during the fight with Plasmus, with most of his body melting. So now the hunt is on to find the one responsible before anyone else gets hurt.

As with TotCC, this story takes a lot of plot elements from other established stories and continuities, and not just for Superman. For example, Victor will play a huge role, though parts of his back-story are actually inspired by the character Steel. Plasmus has elements to his character that are borrowed from the Teen Titans animated series. Lois knowing that Clark and Superman are the same person is inspired by Man of Steel and Superman: Unbound. Superman’s costume is based off of concept art for Injustice: Gods Among Us, as shown below (minus the face, although honestly, I gotta wonder why they didn’t use that look for Regime Superman). Also, Kara is mentioned on occasion in the story, currently in the process that will see her transform from Supergirl into Power Girl. And trust me, lots of other characters from Superman and the DC Universe will pop up in this story.

Injustice Superman Concept Art

Anyway, that’s all I wanna tell for now. Thoughts? Opinions? Lemme know in the comments, and click the image below to read the fic. Ja né!

The Man of Tomorrow

Will & Hope – An Upcoming One-Shot Fanfic (WORK IN PROGRESS)

So in addition to my current fanfic, Tales of the Caped Crusader, I’ve decided to do a one-shot called Will & Hope. As you’ve likely guessed, it’s about a Green Lantern and a Blue Lantern teaming up to take on a foe on Earth. It’ll probably be a little on the lengthy side for a one-shot, but that’s only because I’ll be putting so much into a single chapter. Also, while it will exist in the same continuity as Tales of the Caped Crusader, it doesn’t necessarily take place directly after. Anyway, here’s the cast I have planned for now, but remember this is a work-in-progress, and can change plenty by the time it’s ready to be typed up…

The Blue Lantern in this fic is actually Wally West, AKA The Flash. If you’ve read How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch, you should already know the story here. Basically, the Blue Lantern Corps don’t really exist yet, but Ganthet did create a few Blue Power Rings and sent them to various sectors to locate those with great hope in their hearts. Well, one came to Earth, but on its way to find someone with great hope, it was struck by lightning, which sent it crashing into Wally and the chemicals in his CSI lab. Thus, he’s granted his powers as The Flash, but he also gains several of the abilities of a Blue Lantern. Plus, his overall speed is determined by the amount of hope in his heart.

The Green Lantern is John Stewart. At this point, John is still relatively new to being a Green Lantern, having first been chosen as Hal Jordan‘s back-up. However, when a war against both the Sinestro Corps and the Red Lantern Corps calls the attention of nearly every Green Lantern, John is now the sole Green Lantern in Sector 2814. As such, he’s under a lot of pressure, and as a former US Marine, he’s used to working with a squad of professionals…Yeah, you can see where this is going. lol

Bleez would be the main antagonist. Her overall back-story would be mostly the same, except that she was only tortured and perhaps used for labour, not that she was raped. It’s my general opinion that rape in stories should be reserved for situations where NOTHING else fits into the story in place of it. In other words, there really was no need for her to be raped to justify her turn to murderous rage. Also, she would have two wings from the beginning, both bony, and her intelligence is intact from the start, as opposed to Atrocitus restoring it later on.

Anyway, that’s all I wanna tell for now. Lemme know what you think in the comment section below, and hopefully it won’t take me too long to get it out. Ja né!

How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch? – The Legion of Doom, Darkseid, The Secret Society, And More

Welcome back to How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch. Nowadays, this is more me venting ideas for fanfics. Though, to be perfectly honest, with some of the crap I keep hearing about the insane decision-making by the heads of DC, Dan Didio in particular, rebuilding it from scratch might someday be necessary…Anyway, thought this time, I’d talk more villains and villainous groups. So, let’s start with…

No, not THAT Legion of Doom! lol

For these guys, they’d be the group of villains that are meant to be the answer for the Justice League, the villains meant to take them all down. Lex Luthor would be the founder of the group, although operating from out of prison just to be all the more awesome and show that he can. Parasite would be the counter for Superman, Giganta would be Wonder Woman‘s opposite, and Joker would act parallel to Batman. As for the others, they’d be dependant on who was on the League at the time (Professor Zoom for Flash, Sinestro for Green Lantern, Amazo for Cyborg, Despero for Martian Manhunter, Lady Shiva for Black Canary, and so on).

The Crime Syndicate of Amerika would pretty much function as it always has: The alternate reality versions of the Justice League of America and the Justice League International. Again, its roster would depend on the members of the JLA at the time. So in other words…

Ultraman – Superman
Superwoman – Wonder Woman
Owlman – Batman
Johnny Quick – The Flash
Power Ring – Green Lantern
Grid – Cyborg
White Martian – Martian Manhunter
Scream Queen – Black Canary
Sea King – Aquaman
Angelique – Hawkgirl
Blue Bowman – Green Arrow
Breakdance – Vibe
Vamp – Vixen
Fiero – Fire
Frostbite – Ice

…and so on. lol Heck, I might even throw in a few extras as henchmen, just for the sake of having a wide array of characters, which is actually why Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths is N. Harmonik’s favourite DC Animated Movie, as well as one of my favourites…In fact, note to self: Review Crisis on Two Earths one of these days.

The ruler of Apokolips, I’d wanna bring Darkseid back to what he does best: Tear down everyone and everything in his way to find the Anti-Life Equation. Yeah, I know, it kinda makes him one-note, but to be perfectly honest, with all the secret organizations with their complex plans and bull-crap reasons for the things they do, it’s actually refreshing to have someone like Darkseid around. Now, I’m sure with that reasoning, people would want the classic Darkseid look back, but I dunno, I actually kinda like his new look…That is, his look in Justice League Origins, not his recent issue of Villains Month where his revised origins are that he was just a farmer who hated the Gods, which is so fucking stupid I could scream…but I digress. Also, to further his schemes, he’d be running THIS little group…

For the Secret Society, I’d wanna go back to the original idea behind them, that they were put together by Darkseid. Its inner circle of members, would probably be some of the most powerful, influential, and dangerous villains on Earth, who would likewise not care much if humanity fell. Gorilla Grodd, Cheetah, Black Hand, Poison Ivy, and Black Manta would make good choices. Naturally, they’d come up against the Justice Leagues on occasion, while Batwoman would personally be investigating them and trying to find the ties between them.

Sinestro would go back to being the instrument of fear in the universe, a former Green Lantern now seeking to kill every Green Lantern he comes across. He’d be coming to Earth to take on the Green Lantern stationed there, while the Sinestro Corps would only make occasional appearances, most of them involved in war with the Green Lantern Corps in the deep reaches of space. As for his costume, I think I’d wanna use the one he wore recently after merging with Parallax at the end of Wrath of the First Lantern.

For Amazo, I think I’d want to go back to basics and have him be an android that can copy the super-powers of his foes. He’d primarily be a foe of the whole Justice League, but he’d also come into conflict with Cyborg specifically from time to time, trying to prove the superiority of androids to cyborgs. As for his appearance, I think I’d wanna go with the modern look in the comics. Tempted as I am to use the look he has in Justice League Unlimited, this one just barely edges it out.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Lemme know what you think about these choices, and I’ll see y’all next time when I take a look at certain stories that I might wanna loosely adapt for fanfics sometime, what I’d change, what I’d keep the same, etc. Ja né!

How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch? – Martian Manhunter, Huntress, Zatanna, And More

Yep, here I am again, talking about How Would I Rebuild The DC Universe From Scratch. As you’ve noticed, I’m currently in the middle of doing up a fanfic for Batman, but I might find myself doing other characters in the future too. So, let’s cover some of them, starting with…

Martian Manhunter would likely be operating as the one bringing together Earth’s greatest heroes to become the Justice League. Playing up the angle I had in mind with Starro the Conqueror, J’onn would be able to sense his coming forces and would be getting all the heroes ready to combat him. Generally, I’d want his personality and costume to be akin to his Justice League Unlimited incarnation.

As I mentioned before with the Birds of Prey, they would be more of a blend of the comic book version of the team and the Justice League Dark. As such, Zatanna would be a perfect choice for one of the team’s leading ladies. Her schtick early on would be that she’s trying to find her father, Zatara, the greatest stage magician ever known, as well as one of Earth’s greatest magic-based superheroes. Beyond that, she would likely act as both one of the team’s strongest members, and as a liaison to the Justice League. For her costume, going back to her stage magician outfit would have to be a must.

For Batwoman, I’d want her going back to what she does best: Being a loosely affiliated member of the Bat Family, and investigating Intergang, the Religion of Crime, and the various ties between different villainous groups and organizations. She’d regularly come into contact with Batman and the Birds of Prey, and work closely with either Renée MontoyaMaggie Sawyer, or both. As for her costume, probably a blend of her standard costume, the one worn by the Batwoman (or Batwomen, as it were) of Batman: The Mystery of Batwoman, and Batman Beyond. Basically, take the latter costume, make it more technological in appearance and texture, turn it black instead of grey, and make the inside of her cape, her belt, and her boots red to match her gloves and insignia.

For Huntress, I’d probably go back to her being Helena Bertinelli, though I think I’d wanna make some changes to make her seem like a balance between her and Helena Wayne. Slightly less violent, better relation between her and Batman, good friends with Power Girl, and so on. She’d still be regularly engaged with Mafia bosses, but less “blood cries for blood”. Also, she’d naturally work with the Birds from time to time. As for costume, I think I’d go with the Huntress: Year One costume. It’s awesome and classic all at the same time.

Y’know, a lot of people will make the argument that all the good stuff in The New 52 did not actually require a reboot to exist, but I would argue that there ARE some cases where the reboot did some good. Case in point: Vibe. Vibe has gone from one of the worst superheroes ever to being someone you’d WANT on the Justice League, because his abilities have been altered to be so awesome. Plus, they dropped the horrible outfit and break-dancer gimmick. So yeah, I think that’s the Vibe I’d want, costume, personality, and all. As for what he’d be doing, probably Justice League International, as well as keeping a constant look-out for portals to and from other worlds.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Next up, some more villains, including one of the most dangerous and lethal of all…

Ja né!
