Jyger’s Favourite 5 – 5 Games I’d Love To See Makers For

So, as anyone who follows me on Facebook and/or Twitter can gather, I have a copy of Super Mario Maker. And, suffice to say, I LOVE THIS FREAKING GAME! XD However, as I know for a fact people have already realized (because I’ve seen videos akin to this article that I am currently writing), there will most likely be copycats. In other words, expect there to be Maker games for other series. However, in this case, I say “By all means!”. The only thing I ask is that these aren’t just pushed outta people’s asses, and have the same level of care put into them as Super Mario Maker. Otherwise, what’s the point? But yeah, as long as this is likely going to be a thing that’ll happen, here’re some games I’d love to see makers for.

#1 - Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man

#1 – Sonic the Hedgehog Maker and Mega Man Maker

Probably the most “DUH” worthy titles, hence why I’m putting them together. Why “DUH”? Well, because they’re both platformers, like Mario, but have their own unique flavours to them as well, and have highly dedicated fan bases. But, I think the biggest reason is a simple fact that is all too clear to said fan bases: No one at Capcom or Sega either care to or know how to make a good Mega Man or Sonic game anymore. That’s a fact that’s become blatantly clear over the past few years. And if we can’t count on them, then this is the logical conclusion, unless they want more indy titles like Mighty no.9 and Freedom Planet to steal their spotlight. And hey, Mega Man actually DID do a level creator once for a PSP title that worked out decently, so they’ve already got a system for it that they can tweak.

#2 - Pokémon

#2 – Pokémon Maker

No, not making individual Pokémon, just making Pokémon games. That might be going a tad bit too far. But yeah, being able to make your own region with your own Trainers, Gyms, Elite 4, caves to explore, cities to visit, etc. I’d also include a means by which to have your maps and battles be shown in either the original Red and Blue graphics or in the new-school X & Y 3D graphics. Of course, like the standard Pokémon game only having a single save file, you should only be able to make the one Pokémon game.

#3 - The Legend of Zelda Maker

#3 – The Legend of Zelda Maker

Much like Mega Man and Sonic, this is another “DUH!” title, but for different reasons. Specifically, though, since Nintendo has now done a Mario Maker, Zelda would be the next logical choice. Obviously, this would have to be the top-down games, but I would advise making options to do them in the style of the original Legend of Zelda game, A Link To The Past, the Oracle games, Minish Cap, and A Link Between Worlds.

#4 - Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy

#4 – Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy

Yes, I know, RPG Maker. As someone who has used them, I can tell you that, as cool as they are, having an official game that’s more user friendly and available to more people in an official capacity would be great, and really, either one of these titles would be great. Maybe even both as a package deal. Hell, maybe even include sprites for other Square-Enix games like Chrono Trigger, Legend of Dragoon, or Kingdom Hearts for fans of those games, as a sort of Square-Enix RPG all-stars type deal.

#5 - Metroid

#5 – Metroid

Again, now that we’ve done a Maker game for Mario, let’s get the other major Nintendo titles Maker games. And really, who wouldn’t salivate at the idea of making their own Metroid stages and games? Especially because it would take us back to the days where Samus rarely said a word and mostly just kicked who knows how many billion types of ass? lol I’m thinking the styles present could be the original NES version, the Game Boy version, SNES version, and the GBA version.

Anyway, those are my picks for future Maker games. Got one that’s not on here? Leave it in the comments, and we’ll see what the future has in store for us all. Ja né!

New Fanfiction: Digimon Adventure DM

…So, I may be pushing Power Rangers Guardians of Gaia back a little. Why? Well, because when I get into a franchise again, I tend to get into it so much that I become a bit single-minded on it. What I’m saying is…I started a Digimon fic. 😛

It is entitled Digimon Adventure DM, and, much like a lot of versions of Digimon shows, games, and manga, takes place in its own continuity. It’s actually an idea I’ve had bouncing around for a few years now, and I’m happy to see that I’ve finally found the time to make it happen. The Digimon presented will be a balance between the old, the new, the rarely seen on the show, and some that are completely made up. Also, while it mostly sticks to the English translations of the show and the terminology used there, because some of the translations don’t make much sense, and because some Digimon, their names, and their attack names have MULTIPLE translations, the names that I’ve chosen to use might not seem to have much of a pattern to them, but don’t worry too much about it. I’ll also be posting bios of the characters in the fic to Deviant Art, and I’ve already done so with the main lead, so feel free to click the image below to read more about him.

Anyway, the main thing I wanted to talk about here is that, while I have an idea of the general story I want to tell, and have already decided on the Digimon the kids in this story will use, I’m more than open to suggestions of Digimon that can appear as enemies in the story. Now, I can’t guarantee that every Digimon that is suggested will make an appearance, but I’ll certainly take each and every suggestion under advisement, and I might even be willing to credit those who make certain requests in the Author’s Notes at the end of a chapter. As such, feel free to post requests in the comments section below.

So yeah, that’s all there is to this. Be sure to check out the story if you’re a Digimon fan, and lemme know what you think of it. Ja né!

Jyger’s Favourite 6? – 6 Kombatants I’d Like To See Return For Mortal Kombat X

So, Mortal Kombat X is on the way, set to release in a kouple of months (yes, I’m honestly doing the K instead of C at thing for this article, lol). As someone who played the original Mortal Kombat game when it was ported to the SNES, and has checked out additional entries as they’ve kome out for konsoles I own, I’m both excited for this release, as well as more than a bit disappointed that it isn’t koming out for Wii U. But hey, I kan at least watch playthroughs of the story mode to see what’s next for the kharacters, so I’m not lost should another Mortal Kombat game kome out for a system I own.

Speaking of, though, that brings me to something I’ve thought about for a while now. The general konsensus of everyone I’ve asked about the new kombatants or listened to talk about them is that these new kharacters and their designs are vastly superior to the ones kreated for what’s nowadays called the PS2 Trilogy (Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon), as well as Mortal Kombat 4. Now, while I agree there were more than a few stinkers from that era (Kobra, anyone?), there were still those that would be welcome additions to the new games. Hell, Kenshi already IS back. So, let’s take a look at a few of them. Also, be sure to click on their images to link to the Mortal Kombat wiki and learn more about them. For those hopefully about to Kombat, we salute you!

#1 – Ashrah

Yeah, suppose I’m not surprising anyone by starting with a woman, huh? lol To be fair, though, the reason I picked Ashrah is because she represents a very different kind of kharacter than is normally seen in Mortal Kombat: She’s a demon who seeks purification of the evil in her so she can leave the Netherrealm. She isn’t doing this for explicitly good or noble purposes, rather just for her freedom, but as she gets closer to her goals, she begins to take on a more holy persona. And this story would actually work well in a game that apparently involves a konflict with the Netherrealm, placing her as a possible ally for Raiden in the enemy camp. Plus, while I’m not wholly against the idea of women showing skin, it IS nice to see a woman in Mortal Kombat who isn’t a female ninja/assassin/etc. with a BUNCH of skin showing.

#2 – Kai

Well, seeing as how Liu Kang is either dead or horribly scarred for life following the end of Mortal Kombat 9, it seems like bringing in another Shaolin monk would be a good call. And sure, we’ve got Kung Lao, who looks AWESOME in this game, but one more wouldn’t hurt. And frankly, I just like how Kai’s gameplay makes him similar yet different to Liu, giving him a familiar yet new style for players to use. With all of that said, though, I DO hope Liu at least kameos in this game.

#3 – Havik

…Hear me out. I’m not gonna pretend like having an entire realm of existence dedicated to chaos (which doesn’t get a K, due to the name Chaosrealm) makes the most sense in the world, because it doesn’t. I’m simply suggesting someone like Havik would have some freaking KRAZY and sick fighting styles in this new game. Plus, scaling down the dedication to chaos makes a bit more sense when it’s scaled down to a single kharacter, like Havik. Plus, it was suggested in Noob Saibot’s ending in MK9 of some sort of alliance between Noob and Havik. Now, this ending is likely non-kanon, and is probably done just to reference the fact that Havik was originally an idea for a redesign for Noob, but it could have potential for a story.

#4 – Li Mei

Now, with this, I’d HAVE to insist that Li Mei’s attire be more based on her original appearance, or her alternate appearance from Deception and Armageddon. Again, putting the women in thongs has kinda gotten old. Otherwise, her fighting styles would be very welcome to this game. In addition, her story kan easily be reinterpreted for MKX, given the kurrent power struggle apparently going on in Outworld.

#5 – Mokap

…Again, hear me out. I’m aware of the fact that Mokap is just a silly secret kharacter based off Carlos ‘One Take’ Pesina, who played Raiden in the original Mortal Kombat games. So, why not just go with that? Don’t give him important storylines, don’t make him relevant to the plot, don’t do anything like that. Just have him as a hidden kharacter or DLK (downloadable kontent……Wow, I’m killing this joke dead, lol) for people who want him, and those that don’t want to have no need to do so. Easy-peasy.

#6 – Frost

Talk about a HUGE missed opportunity of a kharacter. I know that Frost has an interesting relationship with the fans, with some people loving her and others hating her. Me personally, I would love to see NetherRealm Studios take another krack at doing her right. And apparently, she’s even in the prequel komics released by DC Comics, so who knows, maybe they’ll do just that? We’ll just have to wait and see if those Frost fansites get any kind of love in the future. Plus, again, she’s a ninja, but she does NOT wear a thong!…..In her default costume. 😛

Anyway, that’s it for me. Got any past kombatants you’d like to see return for a future Mortal Kombat? Lemme know who they are, and we’ll see what happens in the future. Ja né!………..And please don’t ever let me do the K instead of C thing ever again. lol

Things I’d Like To See In Future Sonic Games

So I’m on kind of a Sonic the Hedgehog kick right now, in fact actually contemplating writing a couple of chapters of my old fanfic Sonic 5D’s. But I thought to myself recently, what would I like to see in some future Sonic games? So I thought I’d compile a short list, just for the heck of it. They are…

#1 – Make Dark Form Canon

One of the few things I saw in Sonic X that I thought was frigging awesome was when Sonic transformed into his Dark mode. Considering that the games have taken things from the show and made them canon in the games (Shadow’s wrist rings being power inhibitors, for example), this would actually be a really awesome thing to include for a game.

#2 – A Sonic vs Shadow Game

Yeah, I know, a lot of people didn’t really like Shadow the Hedgehog‘s solo title, and the next time he was playable in a console game turned out BAD, but I’d still like to go back and revisit the rivalry between him and Sonic, even if it is more friendly now than anything.

#3 – The Return of Mephiles the Dark

No, really. Sonic ’06 may have been a colossal failure, but dammit, Mephiles was frigging awesome. He was evil to the core, he was a master manipulator, and he was legitimately threatening and scary (Dan Green gave him the ultimate evil laugh, in my opinion). Plus, of all the villains in these games, he actually succeeded in killing Sonic, even if it was only temporary. Doctor Eggman in all of these games has yet to accomplish that much. Granted, bringing Mephiles back would be tricky at best, but I’m sure there’s some way it could be pulled off.

#4 – A Sonic Journey to the West game (Yes, I know that’s the cover to Sonic Universe #16, it was the closest I could find, lol)

This just seems like the most obvious next choice in the storybook titles, should they ever decide to do another one. I mean, Sonic is already based off of Journey to the West, so why not?

#5 – Make Shadic Canon

Yes, I know, he’s a blatant ripoff of Gogeta, but I don’t care. Hyper Shadic was frigging AMAZING in Nazo Unleashed, and his popularity is pretty much a proven fact with all the character mods that exist for him in various Sonic games. To see him actually playable in a game would be fantastic, especially as a playable character in the aforementioned Sonic vs Shadow game I suggested.

#6 – Reintroduce Shade the Echidna

Why this and not asking for a sequel to Sonic Chronicles? Well, here’s the thing: Sonic Chronicles was made by BioWare, which was bought by EA. The day I ask EA to make a Sonic game for me is the day I willingly pull out my own anus. However, I really liked the idea of an Echidna survivor from another dimension, and hey, we could REALLY use something new to do with Knuckles.

So there’s six thing I would like to see in future Sonic games. Leave your comments on what you’d like to see in future installments, and we shall see if any of these come true in the future. Ja né!

Tales of Dumbassery: Damian In Injustice

Yes, my friends, it is time to take your aspirin, as your sanity creates a headache from having to be ground against…

Tales of Dumbassery

So y’know, even after all this bullcrap involving Superman killing Lois Lane in the prequel comics to Injustice: Gods Among Us, I’ve still been trying to keep a positive attitude about this game. And I should note that, even after learning what I’m about to share with you all, I do still plan to buy it. If nothing else, I’m sure that I can enjoy it from the perspective of it being a fighting game, and let’s be fair, if there’s one thing NetherRealm Studios knows how to do, it’s make and maintain a good fighting game franchise. However, I will also say that my positive attitude has diminished ever so slightly due to idiotic things like THIS:

That’s right, apparently Damian Wayne murdered Dick Grayson, took his place as Nightwing, and betrayed Batman to Superman’s new regime. *inhales deeply*…Okay, so let’s count down the wrong here as calmly as possible.

  1. The mere idea that Damian Wayne would betray Batman to ANYONE is so contrary to the character that it’s sickening. If he wasn’t gonna do it for his own mother, he wouldn’t do it for anybody. Period.
  2. Honest to God, I actually think that if Damian had actually asked Dick for the mantle of Nightwing, he would’ve GIVEN it to him. Seriously.
  3. Damian would not kill Dick Grayson unless he was being controlled somehow. The two were like brothers.
  4. What the frickety frakkity fudge is up with Damian’s appearance in this game? Now, I’m going to assume that Damian’s done a lot of growing since he’s now at an age where, height wise, he can be mistaken for Dick Grayson, but what’s up with his hair? Damian would not grow his hair out, especially after that talk he had with Stephanie Brown about the dangers of letting longer hair out in combat to be grabbed at. Between that and the red Nightwing costume (which admittedly, Dick DOES wear these days, although the default appearance for Nightwing in the game is of him in blue), we can assume they’re going for dark and edgy and all that bullcrap. Then again, of the Bat Family members, I think Dick himself holds the record for most ridiculous heel turn costume with Renegade.
  5. While I admit that this heel turn/revelation is shocking as all heck, which I’m sure was the point, I will also note that it doesn’t make a single lick of sense, as evidenced from above.
  6. The timing of this is so HORRIBLE. Now, on the one hand, it is good to see that Damian is in the game, but to turn him heel? Especially after the way we saw him go down in Batman Incorporated recently? It’s such an emotional whiplash that I’m starting to feel sick to my stomach all over again.

Damian As Nightwing = FAIL

So that’s my thoughts on the matter. Leave a comment below, and I will see you guys when Injustice: Gods Among Us comes out, and on the next Tales of Dumbassery. Ja né!

Update on Injustice Roster and My Picks + Thoughts on Injustice Battle Arena

So it’s been a while since I made that video talking about my personal picks for the roster of Injustice: Gods Among Us. Since then, the roster has only managed to increase by A LOT, including some of the people I picked, so let’s look at the fighters that are confirmed to be playable in the game right now, as well as discuss their achievements in the Injustice Battle Arena tournament currently going on.

Man, am I glad this guy got in. As I predicted, Aquaman has some awesometastic and unique moves centring around his trident and control of the sea and all that exist within it, and in the first round, he knocked off Cyborg. Granted, he’s since been defeated by Hal Jordan, but he put up an excellent fight. I suspect him to be one of the more interesting fighters to play as in the game.

Like I said before, there was no way they could possibly NOT include Bane in this game, given that Knightfall was reprinted and he was in The Dark Knight Rises. Of course, he’s also the man who broke that Bat, a move he tried to replicate in the first round of the Battle Arena…only to later find himself getting rammed across the hood of the Batmobile…again. But regardless, I suspect Bane to be one of the biggest powerhouse characters. In fact, there’s only one other I can think of that does brute force better, and we’ll get to him later…

Batman

Because he’s BATMAN! XD No, seriously, I’m stuck for a single DC video game since Arkham Asylum, the game famous for breaking the Bad Bat Game Jinx, came out that didn’t include, reference, or in any other way include Batman. Naturally, he’s armed to the teeth with gadgets, he can summon bats to help him in combat, and he can even call his Batmobile to run people down like I mentioned he did to Bane. Also, he uses his grapple gun on airborne opponents while yelling “Get down here!”…Nice, Ed. How’d I KNOW you’d find some way to get Scorpion in there? lol Anyway, I suspect Batman to make it to the finals at least.

Catwoman

Frigging knew she’d make it in. Catwoman seems dedicated to fast, relentless attacks that just cut away at the enemy’s health, as I suspected she’d be. She’s a ravager, no doubt. She’s also highly acrobatic and can keep stronger opponents away with that whip of hers. For some reason, she’s not in the Battle Arena. Not really sure why. However, we have since gotten to see a great fight from her outside the tournament, and I’ll get to that later…

Cyborg

I just got one word for this guy being in, and I know I deserve to get smacked for it, but I’m gonna say it anyway: BOOYAH! Cyborg is packing some serious heat in this game, as I guessed he would be. Unfortunately, he got beat rather soundly by Aquaman, but we got to see some awesome action out of him before losing. And again, SO glad his Teen Titans voice actor is voicing him here. I can’t help it, it’s just the voice I hear when I read stuff with Cyborg in it nowadays.

Injustice Deathstroke 01

Again, so glad I predicted this guy getting in. Deathstroke is just one of those DC characters you want to see in a fighting game like this, which is likely why he was in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Anyway, Slade comes packing with his massive sword, plenty of useful gadgets, and lots and lots of guns. Also, like Catwoman, he wasn’t in the tournament, which is disappointing. He likely would’ve kicked all kinds of ass.

Doomsday

Here’s one that people kind of knew about being in the game for a while, but it’s still an awesome addition. As I alluded to before, Doomsday is probably the only character with more brute power than Bane, and his place in DC history was cemented in The Death of Superman, where he and Superman both struck each other so hard they both died from the blows. As it turns out, however, even death isn’t enough to put either one of them down forever. Since he was just recently confirmed, he wasn’t involved in the tournament, but he was shown off in a battle against Shazam, who he literally pummelled through the Earth itself.

Flash

Red streak speeds by, too fast for the naked eye…Oh, sorry, wrong speedster. 😛 The Flash is another of those fighters you completely expect to be in a game like this. Naturally, his incredible speed has made him a force to be reckoned with, blowing past both Shazam and The Joker to make it to the semi-finals, though something tells me he isn’t getting past Batman. Still, I suspect it to be a great fight, though not as great as the OTHER semi-final match…

Green Arrow

Tally ho, mother frakkers! XD Okay, I’m not exactly a big Green Arrow fan, but I’d be an idiot if I didn’t acknowledge his place in this game. His swiftness, trickery, and wide arsenal allowed him to beat Hawkgirl in the first round, but then he lost to Superman in the quarter finals, and I’ll get to THAT later. Still, Arrow proves why he deserves to be here, and I would imagine he’s likely a character a lot of people will be playing as.

Green Lantern

Well, I said this would be a no brainer, and I was right: Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern. His attacks seem to be based largely around the constructs he creates with his ring, and if his bouts in the tournament are any indication, he seems to be able to take TERRIBLE beatings and keep going. Thus far, he’s managed to beat both Solomon Grundy and Aquaman, but on both occasions (in particular against Grundy), he took severe amounts of damage before finally managing to come out on top, though his next opponent in the semi-finals could be the most dangerous in the entire tournament…

Harley Quinn

Well, this should make Linkara happy. lol Harley Quinn seems to be going it alone in this game with the Joker’s apparent death…although considering Joker is also playable, I somehow doubt he’s really dead. She lost in the first round to Wonder Woman, but she did manage to hold her own against the Amazonian warrior princess for quite some time. I suspect her wacky arsenal will give her an edge over opponents who foolishly choose to underestimate her.

Hawkgirl

Dammit, I wish I’d thought to predict this one. Hawkgirl is admittedly really only one of my favourites due to her presence in the Justice League cartoon, but her Earth 2 counterpart is pretty cool too. Her strategy is pretty simple: Fly fast and hit hard with that frakking mace of hers. Seems simple, anyway, but it works more often than not. Unfortunately, Shiera lost in the first round against Arrow, but she showed off enough of herself to demonstrate why she deserves to be here.

Joker

Yeah, dead my ass. Joker either used some kind of duplicate or got put in a Lazarus Pit. Either way, I knew damned well Superman didn’t finish him off in the comics. Joker is so hard to predict that he managed to get past Lex Luthor in the first round, though he unsurprisingly got beat by Flash in the second. I suspect the truth of his continued existence to be a plot point in the story mode.

Lex Luthor

Speaking of Lex Luthor, the runner up for Colin Mochrie’s title as Captain Hair has shown up with another of his mech suits, and I swear these things just keep getting more and more insane with every one he débuts. He also recently had his own trailer, hinting at his role in the story, though it remains ambiguous as to which side he’s taking this time around. Normally I’d say “the bad guys”, but perhaps not now since the villain for this story appears to be Superman.

Nightwing

Thank God, they remembered to put Nightwing in BLUE (except for the alternate costume which I’m not counting since it’s just that, an alternate costume). Again, not sure why Dick wasn’t in the tournament. I get the feeling like they just didn’t have enough slots for everyone and simply HAD to cut some people, but still, Nightwing would’ve been great. I would’ve LOVED to see him go head to head with Batman. He seems to be able to switch between his escrima sticks and his staff as his primary weapons, both of which he can send electrical currents through. He can also use electrified blades on his gauntlets while riding past on his motorcycle…Huh. So he uses electricity…he has a bird-like emblem on his chest…*imagines him green instead of blue, with red hair and a green cape*… … …Aww, dammit…lol

Raven

Once again, Azarath Metrion ZINTHO-WTF is up with her voice?! o.O Okay, voice aside, VERY glad Raven is in. Not really sure why she’s blue skinned, but hey, her skin turned lots of different colours in the comics, so no biggie. Her telekinesis and teleportation are both key components to her fighting style, but she also has the ability to go dark and pound the shiitake mushrooms out of opponents, like she did with Catwoman as I alluded to earlier, even able to summon FRAKKING TRIGON! She’s probably gonna be one of the more awesome fighters to play as… … …Seriously though, NetherRealm Studios, why that voice? You HAD Tara Strong IN THE STUDIO to voice Harley Quinn, why couldn’t you get her to voice Raven too?

Shazam

SHAZAM!!! Yep, they decided to include Mr. Don’t-Call-Me-Captain-Marvel in the roster. He seems to be the game’s answer to Raiden, blasting opponents with magical lightning, though sadly without the random screaming. Unfortunately, Shazam got his arse beat by Flash in the first round of the tournament, and then Doomsday made an example of his strength by pummelling him straight down to the core of the planet and then back up to the surface again. Still, Shazam showed why he’s not exactly a pushover, and should be a good fighter to play as in the game.

Sinestro

There’s only one man in the DC universe who can claim he is the lord of fear above Scarecrow, and that man is Sinestro. He can use his Yellow Lantern Ring to create sharp claws, bindings, and power cannons. His super move is that he grabs hold of two meteors and sandwiches the opponent in between them, something no ordinary man can survive. Unfortunately for him, his first opponent in the tournament was no ordinary man, he was Superman, who crushed Sinestro afterwards. Nonetheless, Sinestro showed serious power and intimidation in that fight. My only question is, why the hell wasn’t he scheduled to fight Hal Jordan instead? o.O

Solomon Grundy

Born on a Monday. Christened on Tuesday. Married on Wednesday. Sexual harassment charges on Thursday. Divorced on Friday. Restraining order broken on Saturday. Alimony on Sunday…Wait, that’s not right…Ah, whatever. One of the first fighters shown in action after the game’s announcement, Solomon Grundy was considered to be the powerhouse of the game…Then Bane showed up…and then Doomsday…and while I don’t think he’s playable, it wouldn’t surprise me if Darkseid’s in…Well, whatever. Grundy is interesting in that he’s not JUST blunt force used excessively. He uses the various cutlery stuck in his back to slash at opponents, proving that if you’ve got it, you should flaunt it…This is a WEIRD frakking paragraph. lol

Superman

Okay, I’m just gonna say this right now: I’m not bringing up the comics here. The game’s story wisely seems to be downplaying the certain stupid move involving Superman that makes me wish the comic would rot in hell, so I’m not going there. Anyway, most of Superman’s more famous powers are intact here, giving him enough power to first defeat Sinestro in the first round, then defeat Arrow in the quarter-finals in 52 SECONDS! Why do I get the feeling that’s revenge for the cheap shot in The Dark Knight Returns? lol Anyway, a lot of people have predicted that Superman will probably meet Batman in the finals, though for that to happen, Supes has gotta beat Green Lantern, and the Dark Knight has to get past Flash.

Wonder Woman

Because again, how can you have a DC fighting game without Wonder Woman? Her fighting style centres around her incredible strength, her sword and shield, and the Lasso of Truth. All of these things made her more than a match for Harley Quinn, but sadly couldn’t get her past Batman, which a lot of people are calling foul on since they’ve made it clear in various comics that Batman is no match for Wonder Woman. Still, I suspect her to be one of the best fighters in the game, and wouldn’t be surprised if she shows up a lot in tournaments.

So yeah, of the fifteen characters on my wanted list for the game, seven have made it in. Not bad, considering. I’m kinda hoping there’ll be a sequel and we can get some of the other characters I suggested in, plus some others I didn’t think of. There probably won’t be one any time soon, if at all, since obviously the priority for NetherRealm Studios HAS to be Mortal Kombat. Still, something to think about.

As for the Battle Arena, my prediction is that Batman will face Superman in the finals. Naturally, if this were a real fight, Superman would win (unless Batman used Kryptonite or the like), but since the battles are determined by votes from the fans and we all know how Bat crazy fans are, for better or for worse, whether it makes any sense or not, I suspect that Batman will win the tournament. Either way, be sure to keep checking out the new battles as they come out, and I will let’cha know what the game’s like when I manage to get ahold of a copy. Ja né!

Jyger and N.Harmonik Visit Harbour Con-fusion

My day at Harbour Con-fusion, cosplaying as 90’s Kid from Atop The Fourth Wall. Also starring N.Harmonik, and a few of my friends from work, including one cosplaying as the angriest gamer you’ve ever heard. Also, I’m sorry for the crappy ass quality, I honestly don’t know what happened there. lol

Music is from Dawn of the Dead and Angry Video Game Nerd. Special thanks to everybody at Harbour Con-fusion, had a heck of a time, and let’s do this again next year. 🙂

What’s A Paladin Rant

…You’ve all seen it. You all know what this is about. This is about quite possibly the dumbest line ever uttered in a video game EVER.

Y’know, I should make something clear: I haven’t played the Ultima games. I suppose I’d have never even heard of them if not for Spoony. However, having watched the Ultima Retrospect and then read up on some of the backstory, I can see why someone would be VERY upset by the sheer dumbassery of statements like this (though honestly the Avatar asking what the Codex of Infinite Wisdom is actually ticks me off worse).

Now, I get it. I get why those lines are in there, because EA wanted to have the Avatar ask these questions for the benefit of those that are just jumping into the series and might not know these things. Problem is that logic falls apart when you realise this is the NINTH entry into the main series (tenth if you count Ultima 7 Part 2). Who is gonna play this game that hasn’t either A) Played the previous games, or B) Read up on the other games so that they aren’t completely lost on the backstory? But just on the off-chance that there was someone playing that didn’t do either of those, there are better ways. Take for example Kingdom Hearts. In Kingdom Hearts 3D, there is a section of the game that is updated at times to continuously feed you additional information on what happened in the previous games so that you know what happened in case you didn’t play them. Now what’s so hard with doing that? Oh, but that’s right, not only does Ultima IX force feed you info with stupidly written dialogue, sometimes the information is plain old WRONG!

Now again, I don’t play the Ultima games, so maybe it’s odd that I come across as ticked off as I am. Well, it’s basically because this is not the ONLY series of games EA has screwed over, and with it becoming an alarming trend, I’m worried it’ll eventually affect games I DO play. Again, take Kingdom Hearts. What if Kingdom Hearts 3 came out and at every turn it contradicted everything to ever happen in the series? Like it turned out Sora and Riku were brothers (or boyfriends if you ship that, :P), or Sora DID become a Keyblade Master at the end of 3D, or Master Xehanort was Sora’s father. I’d have a similar reaction to Spoony’s over Ultima IX if that happened.

So yeah, that’s my take on all this, and EA, you officially fail.

Jyger’s Favourite 5 – 5 Videogame Locations I NEVER Want To Vacation To

D’oh! I cannot believe I forgot to post this last week, but here it is, the first episode of Jyger’s Favourite 5.

This series will act as a sort of companion piece/side-series to Jyger’s Rant. Think of it in the same terms as my previous lists, in that they aren’t in any order, they’re just my favourites or least favourites of whatever category I’m doing for the video. Also, this series won’t have a strict schedule and will be independent of any story-lines I do.

Images and audio belong to Haruhi Suzumiya, Kingdom Hearts, Super Mario, Resident Evil, Legend of Zelda, and Silent Hill…Oh, and Ed McMahon.
