My Pokémon Team In Pokémon X Upon First Completion (Plus Two Extras I Trained With A LOT)

So, it’s been a while since I talked Pokémon, and I thought that, having JUST finished Pokémon X today (I took a hiatus, leave me alone), I thought I’d talk a little bit about what my team consisted of, some of my favourite moments training with them, and a couple of Pokémon I caught along the way that I also did a lot of work with. So, let’s start with…

Pinhead the Chesnaught

Easily one of my favourite Pokémon of the Kalos Region, Pinhead was Lv. 72 on completion and holding a Miracle Seed, with the moves Wood Hammer, Rollout, Pin Missile, and Hammer Arm. My first Pokémon for this game, its always held its own against a number of tough foes, and thanks to moves like Rollout and Pin Missile, it can use its strength to power through opponents with type advantages. Despite type issues, Pinhead was able to defeat Viola on its own with ease as a Chespin, helped me plough through many a Team Flare member, was instrumental in defeating Elite Four members Wikstrom and Siebold, and toppled AZ’s Golurk. It wasn’t ALWAYS able to overcome its multiple weaknesses, but it always went down swinging with everything it had, proving itself as the muscle of my team.

Talonflame

Probably one of the most awesome early-to-find Flying-type Pokémon of recent years, Talonflame was Lv. 70 and holding a King’s Rock, with the moves Brave Bird, Fire Blast, Attract, and Steel Wing. Talonflame is an AMAZING Pokémon, though I wish mine had Gale Wings instead of Flame Body for its ability (though that DID make breeding Pokémon a LOT quicker). Talonflame naturally saw a lot of aerial combat in Sky Battles, as one of the only two Pokémon I used regularly that could enter them (though sadly, that meant it lost more than its fair amount due to being out-numbered and overwhelmed), and played a big part in defeating Korrina, Ramos, Wulfric, and Wikstrom.

Sylveon

A constant bringer of joy and victory, Sylveon was Lv. 74 and holding a Pixie Plate, with the moves Moonblast, Baby-Doll Eyes, Swift, and Calm Mind. I almost feel bad for using Sylveon, because it’s ridiculously cheap. Not because it has amazing stats or attacks, though they are respectable in my opinion, but because the high affection required to evolve it from Eevee makes it able to get critical hits easier, take damage better, even dodge from time to time. And the fact that is has Cute Charm, meaning opponents that attack it physically to get around its high Special Defense might get infatuated, means it has even more going for it. Sylveon has beaten some of my toughest opponents, namely defeating Lysandre’s Mega Gyarados, taking Drasna of the Elite Four’s team single-handed, helping against Diantha, and while it wasn’t the most type effective member of my team against Gym Leaders, it was almost always on my team for back-up against some of the strongest ones.

Raichu

One of my earliest catches, and quite frankly one of the last Pokémon I expected to be using in this game, Raichu was Lv. 69 and holding an Expert Belt, with the moves Thunder, Thunder Wave, Brick Break, and Return. I was insanely lucky when I caught Raichu back when it was a Pikachu, in that it had a Light Ball and was a pretty tough battler. When it had a child Pichu, I was planning to raise said Pichu with Volt Tackle into its parent’s replacement, but I just found that Raichu was still super strong, even with the lack of the power it got from the Light Ball. It was on my team for nearly every major encounter I had, doing extremely well against Grant, Korrina, Olympia, Wulfric, and Siebold with its Electric and Fighting-type attacks.

Michelangelo the Blastoise

The Pokémon I received from Professor Sycamore, Michelangelo was Lv. 70 and holding the Blastoisinite, with the moves Surf, Dig, Ice Beam, and Protect. I chose Michelangelo as my gift Pokémon from the Professor by logic of choosing a Chespin as my starter and receiving a Torchic as a Mystery Gift. Was definitely a worthwhile choice, though I will admit to never really taking advantage of its Mega form’s Mega Launcher. Still, was always a heck of a tank against strong opponents, especially after Mega Evolving, was my Surfer for pretty much the whole game, and pretty much totaled Malva’s whole team by itself.

Gengar

A pretty sneaky yet powerful Pokémon, Gengar was Lv. 71 and holding the Gengarite, with the moves Hex, Venoshock, Dazzling Gleam, and Toxic. Gengar was easily one of the most useful members of my team after being able to Mega Evolve, though its natural Ability, Levitate, made it an awesome Double Battle partner for my Tyrantrum. Gengar pretty much dominated foes like Valerie and Olympia, before defeating the ace of Diantha’s team, Mega Gardevoir, thus earning my position as the Champion.

Tyrantrum

The mother f’ing t-rex, Tyrantrum is Lv. 68 and holding a Rocky Helmet, with the moves Head Smash, Dragon Claw, Crunch, and Earthquake. Despite the new Fairy-types being a major problem for it, Tyrantrum was always a MAJOR powerhouse on my team, wrecking opponents like Clemont and Lysandre. However, because of its typing and lack of speed, it sadly had to sit out of my League Challenge team, though it still remains in rotation on my team for the foreseeable future.

Vivillon

A Pokémon that I’m sure many would recommend against, but I had a lot of luck with, Vivillon is Lv. 55 and holding a Sky Plate, with the moves Bug Buzz, Hurricane, Stun Spore, and Draining Kiss. And yes, as its appearance suggests, it IS a Polar Form Vivillon. It was on my team for a LONG time, helping to bring down opponents like Korrina, Ramos, and Olympia. Sadly, after that, it didn’t spend a lot of time on my team, and by the time I reached the Pokémon League, it was horrible under-leveled, so it sat out the League Challenge. Still, I have every intention to raise Vivillon back up to reach the others.

And that’s my team, all 8 of them. Leave your comments below, what you think of my team, what your own teams were when you first completed the games, and what you thought of Pokémon X & Y overall. Ja né!

No Further Pokémon X Journey Posts

…So yeah, I’ve decided to quit it with the Pokémon X Journey posts. I’ll still be doing my Twitter posts on some of the stuff I do, specifically the new PokéDex entries, but as far as the mock journal entries I was doing on here, those are done. There’s a few reasons why, but I’ll try to simplify them as best I can.

  1. It made playing Pokémon feel like a chore, and that’s NEVER a good thing.
  2. Too time-consuming. Took away from actually PLAYING the game and doing other stuff, like blog on other topics, chat with my friends, write my Birds of Prey fanfic, etc.
  3. My proofreader hasn’t been reading them since I’m ahead of her in the game, and offering her spoilers is like offering your head to a shark. lol

Anyway, I’ll still be giving a review of the game once I’ve completed it. Until then, it’s back to my usual blogging on here…which reminds me, tomorrow’s Wednesday, isn’t it? Which means it’ll be time to talk about…

New Fossil Pokémon Evolutions + Additional Details Regarding Pokémon X & Y

Well, looks like the new Fossil Pokémon have had their evolved forms unveiled, so let’s take a look at ’em!

Tyrantrum

Tyrantrum is the evolved form of Tyrunt, and holy crap, does it look AWESOME! :O It looks like if Greymon was a Pokémon. I half-expect it to fire Nova Blast in my face. That said, it probably will be able to learn Fire Fang, considering its Ability powers up biting moves, and hey, it needs something to deal with those pesky Fairy-types (Tyrantrum is Rock/Dragon-type, remember).

Aurorus

Aurorus is the evolved form of Amaura. Like its pre-evolved form, this Rock/Ice-type can turn Normal-type attacks into Ice-type attacks. Also, it can apparently learn a move called Freeze Dry, an Ice-type move which can freeze opponents, AND has the added effect of somehow doing super-effective damage to Water-types.

There have been a couple of other details released about Pokémon X & Y, though I cannot be 100% certain as to the validity of these, so take ’em with a grain of salt. First off, apparently none of the new Pokémon found in the Kalos Region can Mega Evolve, at least not in X & Y. That makes sense, and frankly, I’m rather glad they’re focusing on the older Pokémon with Mega Evolution. Also, there are rumours that Pokémon will still gain experience from battle even if the opponent is caught, which is rather different, and that there may be a place to change clothes in every Pokémon Centre in Kalos. Again, can’t confirm these, but it would certainly change things up, especially the part regarding experience.

Anyway, lemme know what you think below, we’ll see what gets revealed next. Ja né!

New Pokémon Revealed: Pyroar – It’s Evaluating Time!

So, another new Pokémon has been revealed…That didn’t take long. lol Also, plenty of info is available right from the get-go, so let’s go ahead and check it out! Here’s Pyroar!

…Yeah, I know, not much to see from the trailer, but nonetheless…

It’s Ruining-The-Mental-Image-You-Perverts-Have-Of-Elesa-Forever Evaluating Time! ROFL

First off, let’s get a look at its artwork…

Awesome. Second, LOVE the name. Something about it just sounds awesome. Anyway, from what we know, Pyroar is the evolved form of another of the Kalos Region Pokémon, Litleo, and shares its typing of Fire/Normal. Not sure how it evolves yet. The aptly named ‘Royal Pokémon’ can have either the Abilities Unnerve or Rivalry. Thus far, its only known moves are Flamethrower, Take Down, Work Up, Headbutt, Echoed Voice, and the new move Litleo demonstrated, Noble Roar, which decreases the opponent’s Attack and Special Attack. Still, it looks awesome and has some cool tricks, so I suspect to see plenty of Trainers with it on their teams…Though now, I’m stuck as to which is the most awesometastic: Talonflame or Pyroar. lol

Lemme know what you think of Pyroar, and we’ll see what other kinds of new Pokémon are revealed as we are now at exactly one month until the release date of Pokémon X & Y. Ja né!

Two New Mega Evolutions For Pokémon + Full Fairy Type Strengths/Weaknesses Revealed

So, today there was a ton of new info for Pokémon X & Y in CoroCoro Comics magazine, including a ton of new Pokémon…that I’m not going to talk about. lol Okay, to be fair, I’m mainly choosing to wait until later on, when more info (like their English names) is revealed. In the meantime, however, I will mention that Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie’s evolved forms have been shown off, and all three remain pure Grass-type, pure Fire-type, and pure Water-type. Not quite what I was expecting for Fennekin, but hey, at least it ain’t Fire/Fighting, and the only other Fire-type Starter to remain pure Fire-type upon evolving was Cyndaquil, so there’s plenty they can do to make Fennekin different and unique. Also, there are four other new Pokémon revealed, two of which are Fossil Pokémon with some unique abilities (one increases the damage of biting moves like Crunch, and the other turns the user’s Normal-type moves to Ice-type). When more info is available, I’ll talk about ’em in full detail. For now, let’s look at the two new Mega Evolutions.

Garchomp Mega Shinka!…Mega Garchomp!

Dangit, I was hoping they’d stick to Generation III Pokémon and lower, with Lucario being the only exception since it was revealed way before Diamond and Pearl came out. Oh well, Generation IV is alright, as long as they don’t go higher than that. Anyway, Mega Garchomp apparently gains Sand Force as its Ability upon Mega Evolving, thus increasing the power of its Rock, Ground, and Steel-type moves while in the middle of a Sandstorm. Plus, good grief, LOOK AT THOSE ARMS! You thought Kabutops or Scyther had some gigantic scythes from arms, this thing blows them outta the water with ease.

Mewtwo Mega Shinka!…Mega Mewtwo X!

…Wait, what?! Yep, the rumours were true, folks: Mewtwo has TWO Mega Evolutions, Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, one for each version of the game. The first one we saw is Mega Mewtwo Y, which is the special attacker of the two, and gains the Ability Insomnia. The new one is Mega Mewtwo X, who is the physical attacker, becomes Psychic/Fighting-type, and gains the Ability Steadfast, which increases its Speed when it flinches.

Now then, as for the Fairy-type, we now have confirmation on how it handles against other types offensively and defensively. Offensively, Fairy type is super effective against Fighting, Dark and Dragon-types, but is not very effective against Steel, Poison and Fire-types. Defensively, Fairy takes double damage from Poison-type attacks (called it, ^_^ ) and Steel-type attacks, resists Bug, Fighting and Dark-type attacks, and is immune to Dragon-type attacks. I should also note that Steel-types are no longer resistant to Ghost or Dark-type attacks, likely due to its new-found type advantage to Fairy-types would make it overpowered otherwise. Also, this confirms that, as of Generation VI, Spiritomb and Sableye are no longer without any vulnerabilities.

Anyway, post your thoughts, and with any luck, we’ll have that additional info on the other Pokémon soon. Or, if yer feeling impatient, you can click one of the links below, or visit http://www.serebii.net for all the Pokémon-related information you could ask for. Ja né!

Mega Evolution In Pokémon & Who I Think Should Get Them

So, the biggest piece of news regarding Pokémon X & Y as of late HAS to be the reveal of Mega Evolution. If you haven’t been paying attention as of late…well, remember that image we saw of Mewtwo‘s new form? Yeah. Apparently Mewtwo and several other Pokémon have the ability to use what are referred to as Mega Stones to Mega Evolve in battle. This new form of evolution is only temporary (I believe it wears off right after the battle, not sure) and grants new abilities, stats, and types to the Pokémon. Besides Mewtwo, the others that have been confirmed to have a Mega Evolution form are Blaziken, Lucario, Ampharos, Mawile (THANK GOD, and both its normal form and Mega form are now Steel/Fairy), Absol, and Kangaskhan (well actually, it’s more like the kid grows enough to get out of the pouch and help Mommy fight, effectively giving Kangaskhan two attacks). I’ve noticed that a pattern exists with these Pokémon, in that they’re all unable to evolve otherwise since they were either fully evolved or could never evolve in the first place, and all of them were introduced in Generation III or lower, with the exception of Lucario who was announced long before Pokémon Diamond and Pearl came out.

All of these Mega Evolutions look and sound great, and even people who don’t like the idea of Mega Evolution are glad that they’re implementing something new to the mechanics of Pokémon. So I was thinking, who else should get Mega Evolutions? Because they’ve already hinted that there are still a bunch more to come. So, here’s what I got for my list of Pokémon I’d like to see get Mega Evolutions.

Quagsire

Man, the original Water/Ground-type kinda got left in the dust a bit, huh? Other than having Water Absorb, it doesn’t really have much going for it that you can’t get out of the others, best examples probably being Swampert or Seismitoad *ducks Ice Punch from Poliwhirl*. So here’s what I had in mind: What if, upon Mega Evolving, it got Sap Sipper? Seriously, all of a sudden, Quagsire would be able to absorb attacks from the one thing that would normally have 4x advantage over it, the one thing that actually is super effective against it, and actually increase its Physical Attack from said attacks. You’d be horrified of what was unleashed upon you.

Slaking

Because we’ve already made Chuggaaconroy happy by making to out of six of his Emerald team Mega, why not shoot for three? XD Okay, seriously, here’s why: As I’ve made mention to before, while Slaking has Legendary level stats, it only attacks once, then loafs around for a turn before it can attack again. By Mega Evolving, it could shake free of that ability, or maybe gain a new Ability that lets it attack two turns in a row before loafing for a turn. Because two is fine with those kind of stats, honestly.

…No, seriously. Imagine if these two had the ability to Mega Evolve together and become a badass while keeping their cuteness? Think about it, they’re basically designed to work as a team in the first place. With their powers combined into one Pokémon, Plusle and Minun could be near unstoppable. And yeah, I know this is basically DNA Digivolving, but let’s be honest, Mega Evolution is already Digivolving, we might as well go the whole ten miles with this. lol Other duos could get ’em too, like Illumise/Volbeat, Seviper/Zangoose, Electivire/Magmortar, and so on, but I’d hold back a generation before going all out with the various Jogress Evolutions.

Farfetch’d

Yeah, if you’ll recall, I mentioned before how this poor bird drew the short end of the leak with Game Freak. I don’t know what Farfetch’d did to deserve being left behind, while the other four must-trade-for Pokémon from the original games (Mr. Mime, Jynx, and Lickitung) all got new forms and ways to be useful in the new generations, but I think six generations is long enough to get left out of all the fun. Besides, two other Pokémon on my 10 Pokémon That Got The Shaft list are getting evolutions.

I honestly cannot imagine them doing Mega Evolution and not giving one to Charizard. It’ll be either X & Y or whatever the heck Generation VII is, but it WILL happen. And of course, it would have to become Fire/Dragon upon Mega Evolving. There’s just no way to avoid it. To be honest, I think all three Kanto Starters should get one, but of all three, I think Charizard is the most likely to actually happen. And speaking of Pokémon that could become Dragon-type after Mega Evolving…

Little known fact, Gyarados was originally supposed to be Water/Dragon in the old games. The reason they didn’t do it is because the only Dragon-type attack then was Dragon Rage, which did a set amount of damage, and the Water-type would make the Ice-type damage Gyarados would receive be just neutral damage. That means it wouldn’t have any exploitable weakness, and in the old games, that would make Gyarados far too big a destructive force. But we’ve gone beyond that, and there really is no reason to deny Gyarados any longer.

…Hear me out, people. While I personally feel that the other Mega Evolutions should follow the pattern it has been on thus far, I think giving one to Pikachu would be a good idea. Why? Well, for starters, it hasn’t had much new to work with since Volt Tackle, and it shows when the newest move Ash’s Pikachu learned is Electro Ball. Speaking of which, you know how Ash’s Pikachu refuses to evolve because he wants to stay as he is? Well, Mega Evolution is only temporary. That’s the loophole. That’s how you finally get something new and AWESOME outta Pikachu.

So, there’s some Pokémon I’d like to see get Mega Evolutions in the future. What would you like to see get a Mega Evolution? Leave a comment below, and we’ll see who gets their wish in X & Y. Ja né!

Newer Pokémon & Trailers – It’s Evaluating Time! + Who Will Be Your First Pokémon?

So, I’m kinda falling behind in the Pokémon trailers. Sorry about that. To make up, here are ALL of the ones I missed so far. lol

Anyway, a TON of new Pokémon have been revealed as of late, so let’s take a looksie at some of them, which means…

Frak you Iris, it’s EVALUATING TIME!!!

So, let’s start with Pangoro.

Pangoro, the Aggressive Pokémon

Pangoro is the evolved form of Pancham (I know, it was so cute). Despite this Fighting/Dark type’s menacing appearance, though, it seems Pangoro isn’t exactly a big fan of bullying. In fact, more than likely, it’ll use its Hammer Arm on anyone who preys on the weak, and with its abilities Iron Fist and Mold Breaker, there’s not much that’ll be able to stand against that.

Talonflame, the Deterioration Pokémon

Talonflame is a Fire/Flying type, and the evolved form of Fletchling, which actually explains why the little bird could use Flame Charge. It can fly at 310 MPH and can learn Brave Bird, so I suspect it to be the evolved primary bird of this region, though obviously unique among its predecessors with its Fire typing.

Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon

Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon look to be the next generation Caterpie, Metapod, and Butterfree sort of Pokémon, even to the point of having the same typing. However, since this typing and evolution path has been repeated an insane amount, I suspect these three will have something unique to bring to the table. Least they better, anyway.

Noivern, the Sonic Pokémon

Noivern is a Flying/Dragon type (as opposed to a Dragon/Flying type like Dragonite), which I guess is because the emphasis is less on it being a dragon and more on it being able to launch insane sonic-booms. It knows a brand new move called Boomburst, which nails everything on the field with a massive array of sonic-booms. Might wanna be careful with that move in Double or Triple Battles, though.

Clauncher, the Water Gun Pokémon

Clauncher is a Water type that’s exclusive to Pokémon X Version. Its one enlarged claw is used to slam opponents with Crabhammer, or to shoot condensed water so hard that it can crack boulders apart. It can also use Swords Dance to increase its Attack power, making Crabhammer all the more potent a weapon.

Skrelp, the Pseudo Seaweed Pokémon

Skrelp is a Poison/Water type, and is Clauncher’s counterpart from Pokémon Y Version. Also, since it’s the Pseudo Seaweed Pokémon, I imagine that it likely gets into fights with Sudowoodo over who does the best imitations. It pretends to be seaweed, then launches Sludge Bomb at its prey when it swims past. Also, and this is ONLY a rumour, don’t call me out on this if it turns out to be not true, but I hear tell that Fairy type Pokémon MIGHT be weak to Poison type attacks, so Skrelp could be a game changer among Kalos Region Pokémon.

Litleo, a Fire/Normal type Pokémon

Litleo is a Fire/Normal type, and I’m noticing the typing is getting really unique in this Region. But anyway, Litleo looks to be an adorable lion cub (eat your heart out, Simba), and in addition to knowing Flamethrower, it’s confirmed to know a new move called Noble Roar, which brings down the opponent’s Attack and Special Attack.

Flabébé, a Fairy type Pokémon

Flabébé is one of the new Fairy type Pokémon, and holy crap is it ever tiny! It’s 10 centimetres tall and weighs 100 grams. This makes it the smallest and lightest Pokémon EVER. And yet, somehow, this little thing is able to knock-out Dragonite with its Fairy Wind attack. I gotta see this to believe it, because that’s AMAZING. O_O

Honedge, the Sword Pokémon

Honedge is a Steel/Ghost type that is basically a possessed sword. Honestly, looks and fights like something out of Legend of Zelda, which is frigging awesome. Also, I get a good laugh out of the fact that it knows Swords Dance and its ability is No Guard. You might wanna be careful around it, though, since it can use the cloth like an arm and grab hold of unsuspecting victims, draining their energy. Ghosts are kinda creepy like that.

Inkay, the Rotation Pokémon

Inkay and…

Malamar, the Reversal Pokémon

…Malamar are both Dark/Psychic types, despite being squids. They have access to the ability Contrary, which reverses all stat increases and decreases while out on the field, and also know a move called Topsy-Turvy (and yes, I DO have that song from Hunchback playing in my head right now, lol) that also reverses all stat increases and decreases in play at the time. Combine that with the fact that they’re only weak to Bug type attacks, and expect these two to be rather annoying to battle.

Swirlix, the Cotton Candy Pokémon

Swirlix is a Fairy type, exclusive to Pokémon X Version…so I guess since I pre-ordered X, that’s the one I’m stuck with. lol Just kidding, it looks cool enough, and knows a new Fairy type move called Draining Kiss, which saps the health out of opponents.

Spritzee, the Perfume Pokémon

Spritzee is Swirlix’s Fairy type counterpart on Pokémon Y Version. Apparently it can create a unique fragrance that causes anyone who smells it to fall under its spell. It also knows Aromatherapy, making it a good team player.

Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie

So, that’s a LOT of new Pokémon, but there still remains a question regarding this new Region that every Trainer must answer: Who will be your first Pokémon in this new area? Will it be Chespin, the Shelled Chestnut Pokémon, will it be Fennekin, the Fox Pokémon, or will it be Froakie, the Bubble Frog Pokémon? You don’t have much time left to decide, so by all means, vote below who you’ll start the game off with, and I will see y’all the next time a trailer for Pokémon comes out…if I remember. lol Ja né!

The New Pokémon & Region – It’s Evaluating Time!

So, some more Pokémon for the new games, X and Y versions, have been revealed, as well as some new info regarding the region, the playable Trainers, etc. With that said, I think you know what time it is…

ITS EVALUATING TIME!!!

To start, let’s look at the official trailer to reveal all this new info.

So let’s take a look at the new Pokémon…

Gogoat is a Grass-type Ride Pokémon. Trainers can apparently ride it in Lumiose City, possibly in other locations as well. Supposedly, grabbing its horns helps Trainers connect with it, which I don’t get. I would think if that was me, I’d just be pissed off. Gogoat’s only known move is Horn Leech.

Pancham is a Fighting-type Naughty Pokémon. And yes, I know, Kung Fu Panda, hardy flippin’ har. Pancham glares at opponents to try to intimidate them, but apparently that doesn’t generally work out all that well for it…Somehow, I get the feeling Ash is catching this. Its only known move is called Parting Shot, which lowers the opponent’s Attack and Special Attack, and then makes Pancham retreat from battle.

Fletchling is a Normal/Flying-type Japanese Robin Pokémon. Friendly and popular, it can also be a fierce-ass battler. Also, it will likely be N. Harmonik’s favourite for this region for reasons that people who know her will get. Its only known move is oddly Flame Charge, which should give Fletchling an edge over those pesky Ice-types.

Helioptile is an Electric/Normal-type Generation Pokémon. By charging energy with sunlight, it doesn’t need to eat all that much. In a lot of ways, it’s the first of its kind, not just for combining Normal with Electric, but because Helioptile is the first Pokémon to have the Normal-type as its Secondary type instead of its Primary. Its only known move is called Parabolic Charge, an Electric-type move that damages the opponent, and then causes the user to regain half the damage it inflicted.

And now that all four of the new Pokémon are out of the way, let’s talk the new region: Kalos. First off, it’s based off of France…called it. 🙂 The central city is the aforementioned Lumiose City, and it seems that a LOT happens there. Also, apparently you can explore this new region in full 3D, interacting with objects and moving a full 360°.

Then there’s the new Pokédex, and I’m just saying it here, this is the single most different Pokédex I have ever seen. First off, it’s card-shaped, and has a holographic centre that appears when the two ends are separated. It’s also got three separate areas in its Regional Dex: Central Kalos, Coastal Kalos, and Mountain Kalos.

New X & Y Trainers

And finally, there’s the playable characters. Not only do I really like the looks of them, but guess what? If you don’t, you can change them. Right from the get-go, you’re allowed to change stuff like skin-tone and hair colour, you can later find new clothing and accessories, and at any time, you can then return home and change your appearance. YES PLEASE. 😀

So, that’s all for now. Lemme know what you think below, and I shall see you again as new news is unveiled. Ja né!

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y Announced! It’s Evaluating Time!

So because I have some of the most insane timing in the world, here’s another Pokémon blog entry, this time about the new games that were revealed today: Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

…If you haven’t fangasmed yet, you clearly aren’t that big a Pokémon fan. And since there’s official artwork and gameplay released for the game, that means…

…It’s evaluating time!!!

So, let’s start by looking at the first thing that caught my attention when I saw the article on Serebii.net: The new Pokémon.

The Grass-type Starter, Chespin

So I’ve been a fan of Pokémon since the first games released in North America, and I’ve noticed something about the Grass-type Starter Pokémon:  They’re all reptilian. Dinosaurs, geckos, turtles, and snakes. Chespin, however, is clearly a mammal, meaning it strays from tradition, but that’s okay. I actually like that they’re doing something different, and also, and you’ll excuse me if I drop serious dude points here but, isn’t it the most adorable thing you’ve ever seen?! Oh my God, I just wanna pinch its cheeks, it’s so cute!

The Fire-type Starter, Fennekin

Fennekin looks to be the cool one this time around. ‘Cuz let’s face it, a lot of times the starters are usually cute one, cool one, wacky one. While not the first Fire-type to be based off a fox, I’m sure it’ll be different at least, and hopefully won’t evolve into a Fighting-type like the last three Fire-type starters.

The Water-type Starter, Froakie

That leaves Froakie as the wacky one, and boy does he look wacky. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, just wacky. Look at him, he’s unevolved but he has a beard. One thing I have to note, in particular here, is that it’s kinda hard to determine which Pokémon will specialize in what stats, as the starters tend to do that to better help players decide which one to pick. I honestly can’t tell which one of these three specialize in what. But that’s not too big a deal, we’ll find out soon enough.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y

Next comes the part I bloody well know people will nitpick the hell outta: The titles for the games. I know I found them kinda odd, especially since surely there’s plenty more colours left to choose from. However, after talking it over with PinkRangerWannabe, I figured out the likely reason why they’re called X and Y: Coordinates. Remember, this is a game that’s in full 3D, AND it’s a game released simultaneously around the world and this will likely result in an expansion on the Global Link to include these games. Suddenly, X and Y make perfect sense.

Finally, let’s look at the region. It seems to be taking full advantage of the new 3D effects to build a wondrous landscape around, plus new ways of exploring the world like leaping from vines. Also, do I possibly detect a France-based region? One tower in the background certainly looked like a well-known tower in France. 😀

Anyway, that’s all from me. Comment below what you think of the new games, and we’ll see what happens in October. Ja né!
