Pokkén Tournament Confirmed + Trailer
So a long while ago, it was unveiled that Nintendo trademarked something called Pokkén Fighters, and an image was making the rounds of Lucario and Blaziken about to throw down in the middle of some city. Naturally, the rumour mill being what it is, EVERYONE was speculating as to what this was, though most of us guessed it was some type of fighting game. Well, it turns out we were right, as The Pokémon Company president, Tsunekazu Ishihara, officially revealed Pokkén Tournament, an arcade game that may see release outside the arcade later on, which is actually being developed by Bandai Namco, complete with producers from both the Tekken and Soul Calibur series, though it appears the Tekken side of things is the one with the most focus, as Pokkén is clearly (and I can’t believe I didn’t notice this sooner) a combination of the words Tekken and Pokémon. And oh yes, there was a trailer.
…Well, been a while since I tossed out this little gem, but guess what?! *inhales deeply*
So, let’s take a look! First off, the only playable fighters confirmed thus far are Lucario and Machamp, though I would imagine Blaziken may be playable as well due to that image we saw a while back. The graphics and animation look great, and while the action seems to incorporate a lot of each Pokémon’s signature moves, they don’t necessarily seem limited to them either. That’s probably for the best, since this is a completely different genre of game, and it would neither shock nor bother me if types didn’t play a part in this either. Also, we manage to catch a glimpse of Mega Lucario near the end. Is this a completely different fighter, a transformation, or perhaps part of some kind of finishing move? Only time will tell, but I do hope that if it’s a transformation that the Pokémon who can’t Mega Evolve will have a means by which to close the gap with those who can.
The game is scheduled for release in arcades in 2015. Again, though, it was implied that there MIGHT be non-arcade release later on. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Until then, leave your thoughts and comments below, and we’ll see what happens in 2015. Ja né!
New Pokémon and Mega Evolution Revealed + Leaked Copies of X & Y
So, there’s been a few new Pokémon unveiled, so let’s take a look at ’em!
Doublade is the evolved form of Honedge, and was actually shown off a little while ago, but I was waiting for more new Pokémon to appear. It follows the tradition set by Pokémon like Magnemite, wherein its evolved form is actually multiples of itself, which I’m actually fine with, seeing as how Doublade can dual wield with itself. lol Also, much bigger news concerning it, Doublade can learn Sacred Sword, a Fighting-type move that was once only known by the four Unova Legendary Pokémon, the Swords of Justice.
Slurpuff is the evolved form of Swirlix, and…
Aromatisse is the evolved form of Spritzee. Both are Fairy-type, and both are version exclusives (Slurpuff to X, Aromatisse to Y), and both look WEIRD. They aren’t bad designs, mind you, just weird. Still, their Fairy-type will give them a huge edge against a lot of Dragons…though not the next new Pokémon on this list. 🙂
Yep, they did it again: Mega Charizard X, which made its début as Red‘s Pokémon in Pokémon Origins. And yes, Charizard fans may rejoice, Mega Charizard X is a Fire/Dragon-type! Also, it has the Ability Tough Claws, which increases the damage done by physical attacks. I’m actually noticing a theme with the version exclusive Mega Evolutions: The X Mega Evolutions are more focused on physical attacks, and the Y Mega Evolutions are more focused on special attacks. And with both Charizard and Mewtwo having two separate Mega Evolutions, one has to wonder if more Pokémon will have version exclusive Mega Evolutions. Heck, maybe they all will. It would certainly give more reason to get one version over the other, or to grab both so you can get access to both forms.
So, that’s all the new Pokémon officially unveiled. That said, it HAS come to my attention that some copies of Pokémon X & Y have been leaked early. In the interest of fair play with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, I will NOT be referring to any information leaked early on this blog. If something is officially revealed by either of those two, or information is given out on Bulbapedia or Serebii.net, I will discuss those, but NOTHING ELSE. What I WILL say is that, if certain rumours I’ve heard about the final evolutions of Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie are true, then they have made me VERY happy. ^_^
Anyway, lemme know in the comments section below what you think of these new Pokémon, if you think more Pokémon will be getting version exclusive Mega Evolutions, and what you thought of Pokémon Origins. Ja né!

My 6 Favourite New Pokémon Revealed Thus Far
…You watch, I’ll post this, and then immediately after, they’ll reveal a new Pokémon. lol Anyway, only criteria is that they are Generation VI Pokémon, are not Mega evolutions (I’ll get to them later), and only one per family line (so no evolutions/pre-evolutions of ones I already picked). Also, keep in mind that my reasoning changes from Pokémon to Pokémon, and I don’t know squat about what their stats are, so there could be changes to my favourites as time goes by. So, let’s start with…

#1 – Chespin, the Spiny Nut Pokémon
Seriously, this little guy (or gal) is too cute for words. Also, several people have noticed that the Kalos Region starters seem to be following a sort of Warrior/Wizard/Rogue theme, with Chespin falling under the Warrior category, and that suits me just fine. After all, in the early days of your journey, especially in a brand new region, you want a heavy hitter. And what’s more awesome a starter than one that’s über cute AND kicks the snot outta the opposition?
…Play it again. XD
Yeah, I know I’m silly, but c’mon, people have wanted a frigging T-Rex for a Fossil Pokémon since the very beginning! And of all the Pokémon that have attacked primarily by taking a bite outta their opponent, Tyrunt may be the most potent with its Strong Jaw Ability.
Of the new Fairy-types revealed, Sylveon is probably the most awesome. Like I said before, though, I have no idea what the stats for any of these new Pokémon are, so while I can assume Sylveon’s base total is the same as the other Eeveelutions, I don’t know what role it plays otherwise in comparison to the others. Either way, though, I suspect that Sylveon will be a popular Pokémon among Trainers in the Kalos Region.
Talonflame breaks tradition by having the first Normal/Flying-type you meet in the game evolve into something different. And frankly, I couldn’t be happier. And given that Fairy-types don’t work all that great against Fire-types, and given the new Sky Battles in Pokémon X and Y, I would imagine it’ll find its way onto many a team. Really, the problem I have with it is that, since I don’t like doubling up on types for my team, now I’m forced to choose between it and the next one on my list…
Holy crap, is this thing awesome. I may decide to simply rotate between Pyroar and Talonflame where necessary, since they’re both so awesome. It’ll be a pain in the ass, but it could prove to be worth it. The one problem I have with it is that its Abilites seem kinda situational as far as their usefulness is concerned. Then again, that could just be me and my tastes. I like multi-purpose Abilities, or Abilities that can work in lots of scenarios.
The only Poison-type revealed so far, Skrelp looks pretty cool, and I’ve known from the start that if Poison-types turned out to be super effective against Fairy-types (and they are, yay) that I would need to get ahold of one. So, yeah, I guess I’m gonna need to trade for one, since I’m getting Pokémon X Version, and it’s exclusive to Pokémon Y Version, and dang it, can I just say how much easier it is to trade with friends now that cords are a thing of the past? I HATED those as a kid. And I don’t wanna hear anyone complain about load times or not getting the infrared link to work right away either…but that’s a rant for another day. lol
Anyway, if this list has proven anything, it’s that adding the Fairy-type is making a profound shake-up as far as battle strategies goes. In retrospect, it’s actually pretty easy to see why they waited so long to add a new type. One new type, and EVERYTHING changes. Poison and Fire are suddenly more useful. Dragon is more vulnerable than it’s ever been. Spiritomb and Sableye are vulnerable for the first time. That’s all from ONE type.
But yeah, those are my 6 Favourite New Pokémon. Will they all be on my team? Hard to say. Will depend on what comes to pass. I expect many more new Pokémon to be unveiled in the new games, and I suspect that Skrelp and Mother F’ing Tyrunt (and yes, that’s what I consider to be his full name, lol) to get evolutions. But, for now, lemme know what you think of my list, what your favourite new Pokémon are, and we’ll see what comes to pass as we are now less than one month until release. Ja né!
Two New Mega Evolutions For Pokémon + Full Fairy Type Strengths/Weaknesses Revealed
So, today there was a ton of new info for Pokémon X & Y in CoroCoro Comics magazine, including a ton of new Pokémon…that I’m not going to talk about. lol Okay, to be fair, I’m mainly choosing to wait until later on, when more info (like their English names) is revealed. In the meantime, however, I will mention that Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie’s evolved forms have been shown off, and all three remain pure Grass-type, pure Fire-type, and pure Water-type. Not quite what I was expecting for Fennekin, but hey, at least it ain’t Fire/Fighting, and the only other Fire-type Starter to remain pure Fire-type upon evolving was Cyndaquil, so there’s plenty they can do to make Fennekin different and unique. Also, there are four other new Pokémon revealed, two of which are Fossil Pokémon with some unique abilities (one increases the damage of biting moves like Crunch, and the other turns the user’s Normal-type moves to Ice-type). When more info is available, I’ll talk about ’em in full detail. For now, let’s look at the two new Mega Evolutions.
Dangit, I was hoping they’d stick to Generation III Pokémon and lower, with Lucario being the only exception since it was revealed way before Diamond and Pearl came out. Oh well, Generation IV is alright, as long as they don’t go higher than that. Anyway, Mega Garchomp apparently gains Sand Force as its Ability upon Mega Evolving, thus increasing the power of its Rock, Ground, and Steel-type moves while in the middle of a Sandstorm. Plus, good grief, LOOK AT THOSE ARMS! You thought Kabutops or Scyther had some gigantic scythes from arms, this thing blows them outta the water with ease.

Mewtwo Mega Shinka!…Mega Mewtwo X!
…Wait, what?! Yep, the rumours were true, folks: Mewtwo has TWO Mega Evolutions, Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, one for each version of the game. The first one we saw is Mega Mewtwo Y, which is the special attacker of the two, and gains the Ability Insomnia. The new one is Mega Mewtwo X, who is the physical attacker, becomes Psychic/Fighting-type, and gains the Ability Steadfast, which increases its Speed when it flinches.
Now then, as for the Fairy-type, we now have confirmation on how it handles against other types offensively and defensively. Offensively, Fairy type is super effective against Fighting, Dark and Dragon-types, but is not very effective against Steel, Poison and Fire-types. Defensively, Fairy takes double damage from Poison-type attacks (called it, ^_^ ) and Steel-type attacks, resists Bug, Fighting and Dark-type attacks, and is immune to Dragon-type attacks. I should also note that Steel-types are no longer resistant to Ghost or Dark-type attacks, likely due to its new-found type advantage to Fairy-types would make it overpowered otherwise. Also, this confirms that, as of Generation VI, Spiritomb and Sableye are no longer without any vulnerabilities.
Anyway, post your thoughts, and with any luck, we’ll have that additional info on the other Pokémon soon. Or, if yer feeling impatient, you can click one of the links below, or visit http://www.serebii.net for all the Pokémon-related information you could ask for. Ja né!

A New Pokémon with a Familiar Look! Mewtwo Alternate Form or Brand New Pokémon?
So on Pokémon Smash today, they revealed a brand new Pokémon as promised…or did they? Well, lemme just show the video first…
Word has spread for a few days now that Mewtwo was going to be getting some kind of alternate form, but it hadn’t been confirmed. This video clearly shows the image of the Pokémon shown along with those rumours, but what I can’t seem to determine is if this is truly an alternate form for Mewtwo, an evolution, or just a brand new Pokémon that’s related to the original badass of the Pokémon universe. So far, all we have is the following statement…
“This new Pokémon shares many traits with Mewtwo and it’s suspected that the newly discovered Pokémon has a connection with Mewtwo—a powerful Pokémon that debuted in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. What is this new Pokémon? How will you encounter it in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y? When will you know more? One thing is clear, your readers will certainly want to debate the meaning of this new Pokémon!”

I do find it amazing that this looks even more like Frieza and Majin Buu had a baby than Mewtwo did. lol
So, are they trolling us? Is it Mewtwo? Is it a brand new Pokémon? I don’t know. I do know this much: People are complaining on Twitter that, if this is in fact a new form for Mewtwo, it has ruined him forever and their childhoods along with him. That is so stupid an opinion to take that I almost feel like listing that as a Tale of Dumbassery, and if it continues to build like that, I will. All we’ve seen is how it looks, and that it kicked the shit out of some of the older Pokémon. GET A GRIP, people.
Anyway, feel free to discuss below, and I will follow this story as it unfolds. Ja né!
