Jyger’s Favourite 5 – 5 Pokémon That STILL Do Not Evolve

Y’know, we’re nearing the 20th Anniversary of Pokémon, and in that time, there’s been over 700 different kinds of Pokémon that have appeared in these games. And, of them, I think it was stated once that 90% of all Pokémon evolve in some way, shape, or form, although I think that number is in major dispute and may have been ignoring Legendaries. However, for some reason, there are still some that have been around even as early as Generation 1, the original games, that do not evolve, nor do they have access to Mega Evolution. Now, in some cases, these Pokémon are just badass enough that they don’t need them. Others, and I think you know exactly who I’m talking about, could SERIOUSLY use an Evolution to make themselves relevant, and aren’t getting them. So, in no particular order, let’s look at 5 Pokémon that I cannot believe, after all these years, STILL do not evolve for one reason or another. Just for the record, these are Pokémon from absolutely no later than Gold and Silver, so nothing from Hoenn and beyond. And, I guess we might as well get this outta the way right now…

#1 – Farfetch’d

What did this poor Normal/Flying-type do to someone that caused it to gain such repeated disgrace? Every generation, it has had to sit and watch as nearly every other Pokémon from the original games get new evolutions, pre-evolutions, types, or just anything new and exclusive to themselves that makes them unique and able to do things no one else can. Farfetch’d, however, while it obtained a hold item usable only by itself and is able to use a lot of attacks that most Pokémon of its type combination can’t, I really and truly feel doesn’t have enough to make itself competent. One cool thing they did with it was make it a Pokémon you can get in a trade early in X & Y, and thus would give you a big advantage over the first Gym Leader, who uses Bug-types. But honestly, even if you did that, can you really say that you kept it on the team for an extended amount of time past that? It just feels like the poor thing has gone long enough without an evolution of some kind… …With that said, it’s not like it’s the ONLY Pokémon from Red and Blue that hasn’t evolved…

#2 – Tauros

Yup, turns out that, when a lot of older Pokémon that had been passed over for years in terms of getting new stuff were let into the Mega Evolution scene, Farfetch’d wasn’t the only one that got left out. Now, I wouldn’t say that Tauros is in the same league of being pitiable as Farfetch’d, but at the same time, the Wild Bull has not exactly had a lot new going for him. He has Sheer Force, which is pretty awesome, but at the same time, plenty of others have that ability and superior stats, albeit not quite as superior as you might think. So yeah, I guess it’s not really a matter of thinking Tauros NEEDS to evolve to be usable. Rather…just think of what a Mega Tauros would be like. Admit it, you’d want that badass bull on your team. XD Also, I really want them to do a pre-evolution that can evolve into Tauros or Miltank, just to finally put that theory to rest. lol

#3 – Delibird

To loosely quote an internet reviewer who, last I heard, is actually retiring from the biz, Confused Matthew, “Will someone please explain to me what is the quantifiable difference between Vital Spirit and Insomnia“?! Whose bright idea was it to give it a Hidden Ability that does the exact same thing as one of its primary Abilities? Now, to be fair to this Pokémon, it DID come out as part of doubling the number of Ice-types from 5 to 10 in Gold and Silver, and was seen as the non-legendary Ice/Flying-type for those that couldn’t get or use Articuno, kinda like how Emolga is now the non-legendary counterpart to Zapdos. The problem is, it still sucks. It knows ONE attack, the results of which are completely random, without the use of any kind of TMs, breeding, or Move Tutors to teach it anything else. It’s a gimmick Pokémon, end of story, and I really think that of all gimmick Pokémon, it’s the single most lame, and I don’t really think that’s fair. Especially when you consider that its gimmick is being Santa, and I just feel like Santa should be more awesome than that.

#4 – Dunsparce

Again, this is a Pokémon that a LOT of people want to see rise to bigger and better things, to the point where Mega Dunsparce was created for fan games. And you would think with some of its moves that have special effects attached to them, and an Ability like Serene Grace that doubles the odds of those effects happening, that Dunsparce would be a Pokémon who would have an expanded evolutionary line. Nope! Once again, a Pokémon with tons of potential gets no love from the developers, and I really don’t understand why that is. But hey, as it is, Dunsparce does work great as the team annoyer, meaning that it’ll drive your opponent nuts with some of its attacks.

#5 – Skarmory

…Okay, like Tauros, Skarmory is a Pokémon that doesn’t NEED an evolution, but my God, just imagine what Mega Skarmory would be like, and the terror that would overcome opponents when they see it on the field blocking against them. For those unaware, Skarmory is a freaking MONSTER of a physical blocker. Granted, some of that got taken down a peg or two this newest generation, since it’s no longer resistant to Ghosts or Dark-types, but it IS resistant and does super-effective damage to the new type on the block: Fairies. Still, what I think would actually be a bit more reasonable a request would be a pre-evolved form. A mini-Skarmory that can be used in competitions for smaller and weaker Pokémon, and can learn new attacks. It’d be like the cutest little nightmare EVER. lol

Anyway, those are five Pokémon from the first couple of generations that have never evolved, have pre-evolutions, or Mega Evolutions. Got any that I missed, or perhaps ones from later generations? Lemme know, and we’ll see what happens when the inevitable Generation VII games come out. Ja né!

Why DO They Call It Evolution In Pokémon?

Y’know how when you’re awake at night and you can’t sleep, and your mind drifts to weird topics? Well, I was thinking last night why it is that, when Pokémon grow and change, it’s called evolution? Because it’s really not, at least not from a literal standpoint. Now, because I’m not a scientist, nor do I play one on television, and I don’t really expect very many to read my blog, I’ll simplify my terms here: Basically, evolution is the term used for when a species grows and changes to better suit their environment. It’s what a lot of people believe happened to the remaining dinosaurs that didn’t die off, and how life continued on Earth after the event that caused most of them to become extinct.

Now, before anyone goes Phoebe from F*R*I*E*N*D*S on me (and I cannot wait for that show to be uploaded to Netflix, I miss the heck outta it), I’m aware of the fact that there are people that don’t believe in evolution. That’s fine. I’m not here to start a debate over that. I’m just saying that, under that description, what a Pokémon does isn’t really evolution in the most literal of senses. Really, what’s happening is that they’re growing up, getting stronger, and at some point, developing into a different kind of creature. The biggest difference is that Pokémon seem to evolve as individuals, and with a few exceptions, have a set direction, whereas real-life evolution is done as a species and can’t be pre-determined, no matter what Brannon Braga and everyone else who worked on the Star Trek Voyager episode ‘Threshold’ might tell you, and you want more info on that, watch SF Debris’ review of the episode. Another major difference is the fact that species evolve to survive in different environments, whereas Pokémon don’t seem to have that problem, and instead evolve seemingly as a way to keep up with and compete with other Pokémon, either by becoming stronger, gaining new abilities, or changing types (for example, Mudkip evolving to become part Ground-type to gain immunity from electricity).

If that’s the case, though, why DO we call it evolution in Pokémon if that’s not what’s actually happening? Well, that’s when it hit me: Maybe they DON’T mean it in the literal, scientific sense, but the metaphorical one? Evolution has oftentimes been used as a metaphor for people growing stronger, smarter, getting new skills, and a lot of other stuff that aren’t actually covered under the literal explanation for evolution. And really, when you think about it, that’s what’s happening with Pokémon: The grow up, get bigger, stronger, faster, gain new abilities, can learn different attacks, change types, and so on. So, maybe calling it evolution isn’t necessarily wrong, just that the word is being used in a different sense.

So, does this mean that literal evolution doesn’t occur in Pokémon? Honestly, that’s an interesting question. Why DO some Pokémon have just the right types, abilities, and body shapes to thrive in different environments? Take Helioptile for example. This is a Pokémon whose typing gives it a huge disadvantage against other inhabitants of its native environment, which is generally a desert or rocky terrain. However, its abilities take perfect advantage of its environment, allowing it to become evasive in sandstorms, absorb solar energy, and so on. That seems to suggest that it evolved from a species that couldn’t survive in that environment. And then there’s Pokémon that have eerie similarities to others, like how the otherwise extinct Kabutops resembles a lot of other Pokémon that have come into existence later on. Stuff like that tends to suggest that literal evolution does exist in the Pokémon world. So, for those that maybe stay up at night wondering about evolution in Pokémon, like I did? Don’t stress too much over it, and especially don’t keep yourself up trying to figure it out, otherwise you WILL find yourselves nerding out hard over it. lol

Pokémon X & Y – Kalos Region Starters’ Final Evolutions & Three New Mega Pokémon

So, as I said before, a TON of info has been out and about since the leaked copies of Pokémon X & Y, which I have chosen not to reveal. However, as some information has been officially unveiled on Serebii.net and Bulbapedia, I think it’s fair game to talk about six Pokémon shown off in CoroCoro!

Quilladin Chou Shinka!…Chesnaught!

The final evolved form of Chespin, Chesnaught is a Grass/Fighting-type. It definitely doesn’t look like it’s all that quick, but I’d hate to be staring it down in a dark alley. Also, I’ve heard rumours that it knows an attack that may make up for its probable lack of speed, as well as its x4 weakness to Flying-type Pokémon. Overall, I think I should be satisfied with this being the last evolution of my starter in Pokémon X. ^_^

Braixen Chou Shinka!…Delphox!

Fennekin’s final evolved form, Delphox, is a Fire/Psychic-type. This was probably the single hardest Pokémon to NOT TALK ABOUT on here, as most people who read my stuff and talk to me know that I have prayed we did not get ANOTHER Fire/Fighting-type as a starter. And judging from appearance and theme, I’d say Delphox is the special attacker, Chesnaught is the behemoth, and the next on this list is the speedster.

Frogadier Chou Shinka!…Greninja!

Greninja is a Water/Dark-type, and the final evolution of Froakie. With this, we can safely confirm the Warrior/Wizard/Rogue theme present with the Kalos Region Starter Pokémon. Also, I find it interesting that the three are Fighting, Psychic, and Dark, as there was a rumour that the Sinnoh Region Starters were going to be those types, and they further the rock, paper, scissors game played with the three.

Gengar Mega Shinka!…Mega Gengar!

Mega Gengar is one Mega Evolution I DID know about for sure, but again, couldn’t talk about. And frankly, it’s creepier-looking than ever. Just that one eye in the centre of its forehead, creep the heck outta me. It doesn’t change its typing at all, though given the newfound advantage Poison-types have against Faeries, that might be a blessing. It DOES, however, gain a new Ability in Shadow Tag.

Aggron Mega Shinka!…Mega Aggron!

Mega Aggron is a Mega Pokémon I’d heard rumours about, but wasn’t sure existed. Mega Aggron looks like a freaking tank, and I expect it to function like one, too. Upon Mega Evolving, Aggron becomes a pure Steel-type, and gains the Ability called Filter. Also, I should note that, according to Serebii.net, Aggron and its family are exclusive to Pokémon X Version, while the next Pokémon and its family are exclusive to Pokémon Y Version.

Tyranitar Mega Shinka!…Mega Tyranitar!

Mega Tyranitar is a Mega Evolved Pokémon that I honestly knew NOTHING about. lol Also, I swear, it looks even more like a monster that would attack a Japanese harbour now than it ever did! Its typing and Ability do not change, meaning it is a Rock/Dark-type that knows Sand Stream. Speaking of, word is that Abilities that change the weather now only do so for 5 turns, not permanently. Some fans are mixed about that, but given that it still changes as soon as they come out, with no moves wasted, there’s still a pretty big advantage there.

Anyway, that’s it for the new Pokémon revealed in CoroCoro, but Serebii.net has a lot more info regarding new Pokémon, attacks, Abilities, Gym Leaders, and so on. I’ll cover some of this tomorrow, and once the game is officially available in North America. Ja né!

New Pokémon and Mega Evolution Revealed + Leaked Copies of X & Y

So, there’s been a few new Pokémon unveiled, so let’s take a look at ’em!

Doublade, the Sword Pokémon

Doublade is the evolved form of Honedge, and was actually shown off a little while ago, but I was waiting for more new Pokémon to appear. It follows the tradition set by Pokémon like Magnemite, wherein its evolved form is actually multiples of itself, which I’m actually fine with, seeing as how Doublade can dual wield with itself. lol Also, much bigger news concerning it, Doublade can learn Sacred Sword, a Fighting-type move that was once only known by the four Unova Legendary Pokémon, the Swords of Justice.

Slurpuff, the Meringue Pokémon

Slurpuff is the evolved form of Swirlix, and…

Aromatisse, the Fragrance Pokémon

Aromatisse is the evolved form of Spritzee. Both are Fairy-type, and both are version exclusives (Slurpuff to X, Aromatisse to Y), and both look WEIRD. They aren’t bad designs, mind you, just weird. Still, their Fairy-type will give them a huge edge against a lot of Dragons…though not the next new Pokémon on this list. 🙂

Mega Charizard X, the Flame Pokémon

Yep, they did it again: Mega Charizard X, which made its début as Red‘s Pokémon in Pokémon Origins. And yes, Charizard fans may rejoice, Mega Charizard X is a Fire/Dragon-type! Also, it has the Ability Tough Claws, which increases the damage done by physical attacks. I’m actually noticing a theme with the version exclusive Mega Evolutions: The X Mega Evolutions are more focused on physical attacks, and the Y Mega Evolutions are more focused on special attacks. And with both Charizard and Mewtwo having two separate Mega Evolutions, one has to wonder if more Pokémon will have version exclusive Mega Evolutions. Heck, maybe they all will. It would certainly give more reason to get one version over the other, or to grab both so you can get access to both forms.

So, that’s all the new Pokémon officially unveiled. That said, it HAS come to my attention that some copies of Pokémon X & Y have been leaked early. In the interest of fair play with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, I will NOT be referring to any information leaked early on this blog. If something is officially revealed by either of those two, or information is given out on Bulbapedia or Serebii.net, I will discuss those, but NOTHING ELSE. What I WILL say is that, if certain rumours I’ve heard about the final evolutions of Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie are true, then they have made me VERY happy. ^_^

New Fossil Pokémon Evolutions + Additional Details Regarding Pokémon X & Y

Well, looks like the new Fossil Pokémon have had their evolved forms unveiled, so let’s take a look at ’em!

Tyrantrum

Tyrantrum is the evolved form of Tyrunt, and holy crap, does it look AWESOME! :O It looks like if Greymon was a Pokémon. I half-expect it to fire Nova Blast in my face. That said, it probably will be able to learn Fire Fang, considering its Ability powers up biting moves, and hey, it needs something to deal with those pesky Fairy-types (Tyrantrum is Rock/Dragon-type, remember).

Aurorus

Aurorus is the evolved form of Amaura. Like its pre-evolved form, this Rock/Ice-type can turn Normal-type attacks into Ice-type attacks. Also, it can apparently learn a move called Freeze Dry, an Ice-type move which can freeze opponents, AND has the added effect of somehow doing super-effective damage to Water-types.

There have been a couple of other details released about Pokémon X & Y, though I cannot be 100% certain as to the validity of these, so take ’em with a grain of salt. First off, apparently none of the new Pokémon found in the Kalos Region can Mega Evolve, at least not in X & Y. That makes sense, and frankly, I’m rather glad they’re focusing on the older Pokémon with Mega Evolution. Also, there are rumours that Pokémon will still gain experience from battle even if the opponent is caught, which is rather different, and that there may be a place to change clothes in every Pokémon Centre in Kalos. Again, can’t confirm these, but it would certainly change things up, especially the part regarding experience.

New Pokémon Names Revealed And So Much More! – It’s Evaluating Time!

…Well, that didn’t take long. lol Roll it!

Well, tons of new info, so let’s get to it!

It’s Naked-Friday Evaluating Time! 😉

So, let’s start with the starters. lol

Quilladin, Braixen, and Frogadier

Quilladin’s body is far harder, sturdier, and pricklier than Chespin‘s, able to put up a stronger defence, though it tends to avoid battle. Braixen no longer eats branches as it did as Fennekin, instead keeping one in its tail, which it seems to use almost like a wand of some sort for attacks, lending proof to the theory that it might evolve into a Psychic-type. When Froakie evolves into Frogadier, its leaping abilities become far more potent, allowing it to bounce off ceilings, walls, branches, and anything else around it to confound opponents. All three of these evolved Pokémon remain their original types and do not gain any secondary types, though their unique characteristics seem to suggest they may yet pick them up upon evolving.

Furfrou

Furfrou is a Normal-type Poodle Pokémon, which already gives it immediate distrust for me. lol Supposedly, a Furfrou once guarded the ancient King of the Kalos Region. The main attraction to Furfrou is that grooming it actually changes its form, which I’m guessing has some sort of additional effect. Its Ability is Fur Coat, which halves the damage done by Physical Attacks, and I gotta believe that’s gonna give it a much-needed edge against hard-hitting Fighting-types.

Tyrunt

Tyrunt is one of the two new Fossil Pokémon, and it’s pretty much the one we’ve all been waiting on…

Sorry, had to. 😉 Anyway, it’s a Rock/Dragon-type, and is known to take fits when it doesn’t like something. It knows moves like Crunch and Dragon Tail, and has the Ability Strong Jaw, which increases the power of biting moves like Crunch and Ice Fang. This is the one I’m picking, no question.

Amaura

And this is the one N. Harmonik and DorkynProudofit are getting. lol Yeah, I know, Amaura looks like a brachiosaur in My Little Pony, but take a second and look at its Ability. Refrigerate causes all of its Normal-type moves to become Ice-type. Amaura is a Rock/Ice-type Pokémon. Can you see where this is going? Yep, this thing, when it evolves, is gonna be throwing Ice-type Hyper Beams. Dragons, birds, and Grass-types, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES.

Female Pyroar

I already covered Pyroar, and I don’t think there’s anything new here, other than the gender difference. Still, glad to see they’re incorporating those again, after Generation V only had a couple…Although, am I the only one who thinks female Pyroar looks like Pidgeot? o.O

Meowstic Female and Male

Meowstic, however, DO have more gender differences than just appearance. These Psychic-types have two distinct roles between the two: The male is more focused on the support role, while the female attacks. Their psychic powers usually keep their ears shut, and they tend not to be all that emotional to their Trainers. Their Ability can be either Keen Eye or Infiltrator.

Mega Garchomp

I already mentioned Mega Garchomp, but new info suggests that, while it gains considerable Attack and Special Attack, it loses Speed. So, I guess it’s really up to the Trainer, do you want a harder hitting Garchomp, or a swift Garchomp? I’m glad those kinds of Mega Evolutions exist, as they can be used to adapt to different situations.

As reported earlier, you can in fact change your character’s appearance, from your outfit to your hair colour and style, at the Boutiques found around Kalos. This allows you to fully customise your character, which is something we’ve wanted for so long and only really got in Pokémon Battle Revolution, which was seven years ago. Also, apparently you can record a 10 second video for your Trainer for when you meet other people in the Pokémon Search System, and can customise their profile.

Mable, Celosia, Bryony, and Aliana

There’s been some new info on Team Flare. Apparently, among their ranks, are a group of scientists that I’m going to assume are also fashion models of some sort…I’m not here to judge. lol Anyway, the purple-haired woman is Celosia, the orange-haired woman is Aliana, the green-haired woman is Bryony, and the blue-haired woman is Mable. Apparently, they want to make the world beautiful, and are engaged in deeds such as selling Pokémon and fossils for profit.

Finally, some additional news, regarding alterations to gameplay. Ghost-type Pokémon are no longer affected by moves that prevent fleeing from battle, like Mean Look, Grass-types can’t be seeded (I thought they couldn’t already?), or affected by Powder moves (SleepPowder, Stun Spore, etc.), and Paralysis doesn’t work on Electric-types anymore. Can’t really complain with these, since they all kinda make sense from a logical standpoint.

Anyway, that’s it for now, but since we’re in the last month until Pokémon X & Y come out, I wouldn’t be surprised if tons more info is unveiled soon. Ja né!

New Pokémon Revealed: Pyroar – It’s Evaluating Time!

So, another new Pokémon has been revealed…That didn’t take long. lol Also, plenty of info is available right from the get-go, so let’s go ahead and check it out! Here’s Pyroar!

…Yeah, I know, not much to see from the trailer, but nonetheless…

It’s Ruining-The-Mental-Image-You-Perverts-Have-Of-Elesa-Forever Evaluating Time! ROFL

First off, let’s get a look at its artwork…

Awesome. Second, LOVE the name. Something about it just sounds awesome. Anyway, from what we know, Pyroar is the evolved form of another of the Kalos Region Pokémon, Litleo, and shares its typing of Fire/Normal. Not sure how it evolves yet. The aptly named ‘Royal Pokémon’ can have either the Abilities Unnerve or Rivalry. Thus far, its only known moves are Flamethrower, Take Down, Work Up, Headbutt, Echoed Voice, and the new move Litleo demonstrated, Noble Roar, which decreases the opponent’s Attack and Special Attack. Still, it looks awesome and has some cool tricks, so I suspect to see plenty of Trainers with it on their teams…Though now, I’m stuck as to which is the most awesometastic: Talonflame or Pyroar. lol

Lemme know what you think of Pyroar, and we’ll see what other kinds of new Pokémon are revealed as we are now at exactly one month until the release date of Pokémon X & Y. Ja né!

Newer Pokémon & Trailers – It’s Evaluating Time! + Who Will Be Your First Pokémon?

So, I’m kinda falling behind in the Pokémon trailers. Sorry about that. To make up, here are ALL of the ones I missed so far. lol

Anyway, a TON of new Pokémon have been revealed as of late, so let’s take a looksie at some of them, which means…

Frak you Iris, it’s EVALUATING TIME!!!

So, let’s start with Pangoro.

Pangoro, the Aggressive Pokémon

Pangoro is the evolved form of Pancham (I know, it was so cute). Despite this Fighting/Dark type’s menacing appearance, though, it seems Pangoro isn’t exactly a big fan of bullying. In fact, more than likely, it’ll use its Hammer Arm on anyone who preys on the weak, and with its abilities Iron Fist and Mold Breaker, there’s not much that’ll be able to stand against that.

Talonflame, the Deterioration Pokémon

Talonflame is a Fire/Flying type, and the evolved form of Fletchling, which actually explains why the little bird could use Flame Charge. It can fly at 310 MPH and can learn Brave Bird, so I suspect it to be the evolved primary bird of this region, though obviously unique among its predecessors with its Fire typing.

Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon

Scatterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon look to be the next generation Caterpie, Metapod, and Butterfree sort of Pokémon, even to the point of having the same typing. However, since this typing and evolution path has been repeated an insane amount, I suspect these three will have something unique to bring to the table. Least they better, anyway.

Noivern, the Sonic Pokémon

Noivern is a Flying/Dragon type (as opposed to a Dragon/Flying type like Dragonite), which I guess is because the emphasis is less on it being a dragon and more on it being able to launch insane sonic-booms. It knows a brand new move called Boomburst, which nails everything on the field with a massive array of sonic-booms. Might wanna be careful with that move in Double or Triple Battles, though.

Clauncher, the Water Gun Pokémon

Clauncher is a Water type that’s exclusive to Pokémon X Version. Its one enlarged claw is used to slam opponents with Crabhammer, or to shoot condensed water so hard that it can crack boulders apart. It can also use Swords Dance to increase its Attack power, making Crabhammer all the more potent a weapon.

Skrelp, the Pseudo Seaweed Pokémon

Skrelp is a Poison/Water type, and is Clauncher’s counterpart from Pokémon Y Version. Also, since it’s the Pseudo Seaweed Pokémon, I imagine that it likely gets into fights with Sudowoodo over who does the best imitations. It pretends to be seaweed, then launches Sludge Bomb at its prey when it swims past. Also, and this is ONLY a rumour, don’t call me out on this if it turns out to be not true, but I hear tell that Fairy type Pokémon MIGHT be weak to Poison type attacks, so Skrelp could be a game changer among Kalos Region Pokémon.

Litleo, a Fire/Normal type Pokémon

Litleo is a Fire/Normal type, and I’m noticing the typing is getting really unique in this Region. But anyway, Litleo looks to be an adorable lion cub (eat your heart out, Simba), and in addition to knowing Flamethrower, it’s confirmed to know a new move called Noble Roar, which brings down the opponent’s Attack and Special Attack.

Flabébé, a Fairy type Pokémon

Flabébé is one of the new Fairy type Pokémon, and holy crap is it ever tiny! It’s 10 centimetres tall and weighs 100 grams. This makes it the smallest and lightest Pokémon EVER. And yet, somehow, this little thing is able to knock-out Dragonite with its Fairy Wind attack. I gotta see this to believe it, because that’s AMAZING. O_O

Honedge, the Sword Pokémon

Honedge is a Steel/Ghost type that is basically a possessed sword. Honestly, looks and fights like something out of Legend of Zelda, which is frigging awesome. Also, I get a good laugh out of the fact that it knows Swords Dance and its ability is No Guard. You might wanna be careful around it, though, since it can use the cloth like an arm and grab hold of unsuspecting victims, draining their energy. Ghosts are kinda creepy like that.

Inkay, the Rotation Pokémon

Inkay and…

Malamar, the Reversal Pokémon

…Malamar are both Dark/Psychic types, despite being squids. They have access to the ability Contrary, which reverses all stat increases and decreases while out on the field, and also know a move called Topsy-Turvy (and yes, I DO have that song from Hunchback playing in my head right now, lol) that also reverses all stat increases and decreases in play at the time. Combine that with the fact that they’re only weak to Bug type attacks, and expect these two to be rather annoying to battle.

Swirlix, the Cotton Candy Pokémon

Swirlix is a Fairy type, exclusive to Pokémon X Version…so I guess since I pre-ordered X, that’s the one I’m stuck with. lol Just kidding, it looks cool enough, and knows a new Fairy type move called Draining Kiss, which saps the health out of opponents.

Spritzee, the Perfume Pokémon

Spritzee is Swirlix’s Fairy type counterpart on Pokémon Y Version. Apparently it can create a unique fragrance that causes anyone who smells it to fall under its spell. It also knows Aromatherapy, making it a good team player.

Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie

So, that’s a LOT of new Pokémon, but there still remains a question regarding this new Region that every Trainer must answer: Who will be your first Pokémon in this new area? Will it be Chespin, the Shelled Chestnut Pokémon, will it be Fennekin, the Fox Pokémon, or will it be Froakie, the Bubble Frog Pokémon? You don’t have much time left to decide, so by all means, vote below who you’ll start the game off with, and I will see y’all the next time a trailer for Pokémon comes out…if I remember. lol Ja né!
